Hi Guys, I'm going to be building a competitve eldar 1500 point list as a bit of a change to my necrons.

I've seen a few lists floating around, mainly composing of dire avengers, wave serpents, seerstars on jetbikes, Jet bike squads. You know the drill, I was wondering if people could help me decide on the specifics, such as load outs for the farseer and council. Things like, is it best to just put scatterlasers on the wave serpents? What do I need to counter some sort of armour? Any help would be great, just getting into eldar, but I've been playing for quite a few years now.

Thanks guys,
Deraiderspam

Well, my 1650 pts list (won an RTT with it) looks like this:

Jetseer

2x 10 DA w/ Serpent w/ tl scatterlaser, underslung shuricannon, holofield

10 Guardians w/ Serpent w/ tl scatterlaser, underslung shuricannon, holofield

2x 5 Fire Dragons w/ Serpent w/ tl scatterlaser, underslung shuricannon, holofield

3 Warwalkers w/ dual scatterlasers.

Looks pretty sweet, would you be able to make it to 1500 by just dropping the DA to 5 mans, and maybe guardians to dire avengers? Do you not like Seer council on Jetbikes either?

Indeed, you could take minimum DA units to save points.
I'd take a Jetseer Council in larger games.
Jetbikes for objective grabbing are quite useful especially in maelstrom missions.
But the above army goes for the enemy's throat. Haven't lost a game with it and so its now shelved.

I don't understand how this is possible. I've never seen a Wave Serpent survive more than three turns, let alone winning games by themselves alone.

Do you never play against Space Marines? They easily catch Wave Serpents, and every Marine under the sun can kill one.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

This list won me a local tourney:

1 HQ spiritseer (Psychic Shreik + Try for protect or take conceal Use his spirit mark ALOT nb: soul blaze and fleshbane)
5 x Wraithguard in Wave Serpent (SL HF SC)
2x(10X Defender Guardians + Wave Serp with HF and SL)
3x(1 Vyper with SL and SC)
1x Wraithlord with Flamers, Glaive and BL
1xFalcon (HF SL SS)
1xFalcon (HF BL SS)

1500 pts.. it has huge advantages I can't get into detail on but basically its weakish vs AV12 fliers and AV14 ALWAYS strong against the rest.. hide from AV14 til end and go under fliers

Personally I'd plump for;

Spiritseer
5x5 DAs in Serpents (2 with SC)
2 wraith knights

Kill one? Not via shooting.
The point is to keep the enemy at arm's length.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Okay, we played a double tournament, 2000 pt, in the 6th edition, each player had 1000 pts.
We (Eldar + DE) battled a 2000 pts Marine army on foot and a CSM army in an RTT.
Not very much left from the enemy at the end of battle.

There's no arm's length to Space Marines. Between Drop Pod saturation and Bikes you should be constantly boxed in starting on Turn 1. Wave Serpents aren't fast enough to break away, even if they fly over and then move Flat Out.

Well, holofields and jink saves keep the drop podding Marines at arm's length.
Bikers are a different threat since they can eventually charge the Serpents.
There are measure (shuricats and whatnot) to prevent this.

Is Seerstar to expensive to run in 1500 points then? I see 1500 as the top end anyway, so what is a valid points level for them? And yes, Spacemarine drop pod and biker spam is pretty valid

Well, it is.
Generally, it exists of 2 Jetseers, 6 Warlocks, and eventually the Baron to tank wounds.
I'd use them at the 1750 to 2000 pt level.

I wouold say not, especially at the 1500 point level. To small for a unit that isnt top tier anymore. They recieved 3 major nerfs, each enough to put the build down a level at competitivep play, but all 3 together....Just harsh

that is 1600 points (Wave Serpent + SL + SC +HF) or if you mean raw Wave Serps 1450pts or if it's just 2 SC is 1470 pts - but perhaps you mean scatter lasers on all five too then it would be 1495pts

not sure this list is exactly going to make you any friends.. but I can see it's attraction

I wouldnt run a proper seer council at lower point games as mentioned.

I really like my seer council at 2k points, there is barely any units in the game that it cant murder or hold up indefinitely.

Culexis can kill half of them In one turn, and then remove all its buffs so the rest of the army can mop up the remainder.

Seer council has been nerfed out of top tier builds.

So Seer council is not the way to go then? But Wave Serpents, Fire Dragons, Warwalkers and a mantled jet seer sounds like a plan?

It is a plan.

Dire Avengers or Guardans in Serpents.

For local tournaments. If you want to go all the way GT level competitive, remove war walkers, maybe fire dragons, and add wraith knights + jetbikes.

Mantle seer 155

5 Dire avengers, wave serpent (+GWM) 220
5 Dire avengers, wave serpent (+GWM) 220
5 Dire avengers, wave serpent (+GWM) 220
5 Dire avengers, wave serpent 210
3 jet bikes 51
3 jet bikes 51

wraith knight 240
wraith knight 240
wraith knight 240

1850.

Thats about as nasty as you can go.

Ghostwalk Matrix - vehicle upgrade for Eldar vehicles, ignores dangerous terrain tests. Normally (at least that I've seen) to combine with Holofields to park in terrain and get a cover save without Jinking.
