This thread is now going to include all of my Necromunda models, may of which might also feature in my Tyrant's Legion.

So, I've spent quite a bit of time assembling a custom squad for my Tyrant's Legion force. They are only about a 150-200 point squad, but I felt like putting quite a bit of time in to make them very individual.

Strange thing though, they originated out of some leftovers. I have used some Chaos Marauder legs, Scout bodies, spare axes and the like to make some fearsome looking scouts for the Executioners element of my Badab force, and that meant I had leftover Scout legs and Marauder bodies. Along with some Catachan bits, this is what I came up with. I am pretty happy with the result. I plan to use them as a Kill Team in their own right, and as part of a Tyrant's Legion army. I will need to model some brutes for that. I will probably use Ork Nob legs, torsos and arms with human heads and hands.

I also plan to use them as Goliaths in Necromunda. I have ordered some bare-chested Catachan torsos for juves. My idea is that juves have not yet earned a belt buckle/belly plate that the gangers proudly sport.

I've tried to make each model at least a little individual. I've also made the weapons partially interchangeable, as you can see on the leader and heavies. As they will have pistols and CCWs for Kill Team and W40K, they will have to be a very very close combat focused gang too. I hope that works out!!

Not dissuaded by the complete lack of response to the first post, here are some photos of the work I did to get rid of the awful marauder torso/arm joins, which might be the worst thing about them.

Also, one of the flamer dudes had a scrawny arm, so I beefed it up. Very pleased with one of my first bits of major greenstuff work.

Ooh you're building a renegade marauder squad for the Tyrant's Legion, me too! Man, yours are way more original than mine Nice stuff man. I'll be keeping my eye on this one for inspiration.

And don't be dismayed by the lack of comments, they'll come, just keep on posting!

Will you be having brutes? How are you doing yours? I have had lots of ideas, but none of them have quite seized me and not let go yet.

After an entire evening of searching, and finding some very cool models that are not quite right, I reckon I can do something awesome with these.

They would need a head swap, and a LOT or work on the legs, but they are plastic, so I reckon I have at least a chance of success...

My brutes are just renegade Ogryns with some sculpted mutations. I've made a list on my blog of what my marauders will consist off *cough*seamlessselfpromotion*cough*:

Renegade Marauder Squad
Aahh yes, the marauders. The guys that first had fought against Huron and his Astral Claws, now fight (with a little help of money) for the Tyrant and his cause. They have mutations because they live closely to the Maelstrom and some have connections with chaos. So its green stuff time!
- 10 man unit;
- 3 renegade Ogryns (the "brutes");
- 5 cultists as marauders;
- 1 heretek, portrayed by the techpriest enginseer;
- Last but not least, the marauder chief! He's portrayed by inquisitor.

Those Hordes minis are very cool! But they indeed need a lot of work.

So, having bought an Industrial Battlezone in near mint condition for £25 yesterday to go with my complete Necromunda, I now have 3 full sets of plastic bulkheads, but only 2 full sets of the cardboard bits to go with it. As I am about to move out of my nice large flat with lots of space for my stuff to a smaller flat where I will have to share the space with my girlfriend, I need store-able terrain. Ironically, this happens as I have also finally quit playing American Football (age 36!) and actually have time to play w40k some more.

Anyway, I made the following from boxes of Jordan's Country Crisp and a Kellogg's Fruit and Fibre Box. It could probably do with some more detailing, but I think I will just base coat it first, get the others done and base coat them too, then worry about detailing later. Oh, and it has a Pringle's box in the middle. The Pringle's box still has about half of the Pringles in. Yummy.

In M40.912, a crack commando unit was sentenced to death by a commisariat court for just one of the long series of terrible crimes they had committed during the Badab conflict. These men promptly escaped through the Badab blockade to the Necromunda underground. Today, still wanted by the Imperium, they survive as gangers, thugs and criminals. If you have something valuable, if no-one can help you protect it, and if they can find you, maybe you will be a victim of... The B Boys.

"When troubles come, they'd best come not as lone Astartes, but as a whole Chapter. "
-Kavez y Kavez

+++Briefing Begins+++ Kavez y Kavez joined the B Boys late in the Badab War. Born on Iblis, his parents were Imperial Guardsmen from a Karashimeshian regiment given the unusual privilege of retirement after several heroic but destructive campaigns. Kavez y Kavez served as Claw for the Iblis nobility, eventually operating as personal assassin, bodyguard and executioner for the ruler of Iblis' capital city. Despite having fought effectively in many battles against Fire Hawks, Kavez could do nothing when the Carcharodons attacked. Seeing the uselessness of even the Mantis Warrior forces on the planet, and with his family and home town slain to the last man by a small Carcharodon task force, he left the system to find death fighting against the Carcharodons in the Badab system itself. Less bloodthirsty than most other members of the gang, Kavez y Kavez was primarily interested in killing loyalist Imperial forces, especially Carcharodons. Nevertheless, with few options other than remaining with the B Boys, he has become a key fighter within the group and shows little sign of striking out on his own. Kavez makes unconfirmed claims to have ambushed and killed two Carcharodon power-armoured marines, one with each of the huge daggers he carries. +++Briefing Ends+++

The B Boys (also known as the Bow Boys, Bowery Boys and Bowie Boys) are known to make frequent use of automated sentry weaponry. Typically, the heavy weaponry is used to initiate an ambush leaving the target in disarray, either by using heavy lascannons to disable vehicles and/or heavy bolters to thin infantry ranks. The B Boys will then engage, either closing in to finish the target in personal combat, or using flamer weaponry to prevent them escaping the automated weaponry's kill zone.

I need to decide what option I like best for the automated sentry turrets. Opinions needed please!!! Puppetswar turrets or Razorback turrets? Bastion weapon bases or the Puppetswar bases? Bastion with or without the legs attached?

The last pic is just the puppetswar turrets' bases without their turret. They could make good side for buildings, perhaps.

I like them both, but I would imagine that the bastion bases might fit in with the aesthetic better? As for the actual weapons, why not both? The more options the better!

Well, the Basion ones do look to be more mobile as the Puppetwars ones seem to be more permanent emplacements.

But the bastion ones will need to have those leg screws shortened or the guns won't have 360° clearance.

Yeah, actually the permanent versus mobile thing is an issue. I might set them up so I can use them either way and choose which model to use based on the scenario.

With regard to the field of fire, I though about that and could not decide whether to shorten them, or say that there is circuitry to make them stop firing if they will hit the struts...

Right, I've moved home, and now share a place with my girlfriend, started a new year at school and not had much spare time.

But here is some progress...

Firstly, a pair of brutes. I wanted to make sure they were both unique, so one has been repositioned at the waste and has an alternative weapon. It may well turn out to be too fragile, however...

I added another ganger, Ringgold

And some juves, Sirocco and Dim. Dim is the one who looks a bit stupid.

Here is a shot of the whole gang, currently...

And a load of bits left over, including the backpacks most of the gang will get, and some jewellery my girlfriend gave me to use for my heavies...

I did some work no the gang generally today. I've decided to finish the converted ogre as it is now. They look similar, but not identical, with slightly different poses, different weapon and different headgear, and they will have different backpacks too, so they should not look too similar.

The rest of the gang is pretty much finished too, unless I decide to add some skulls - Next comes paint, finally!

So, I'm going to include other gangs here now too. This gang has been created especially for my Phargos Hex campaign. They are former pdf members and a couple of deserters, and they'll be recruiting young 'uns from their settlement. They'll be getting dark brown boots and blue jackets with yellow spot colours so that I can, if I really want, use them with my Tyrant's Legion.

I've made a few modifications, as some of the guys were cheap from eBay and came with weapons already removed or replaced. The plasma gun and small chainsword are from my bits box, the heavy stubber is from a van Saar and the flamer was an old metal one. I had to cut off the back end, saw and file off a hand and I shortened the barrels.

We are going to keep a campaign blog - photos on the blog
http://overwa.tch.li/blog/2015/10/03/phargos-hex/

I originally posted this in the fiction section, but decided to repeat it for this blog:

Hi all,

I am posting background here for a campaign that will be running at HATE (Hackney Area Tabletop Enthusiasts) at Bethnal Green Working Men's Club in London.

¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

Missing
In 4591875.M41, all contact was lost with the ancient world of Phargos Hex on the edge of the Maelstrom Zone. Following the loss of astropathic contact, several Imperial Navy, Adeptus Mechanicus Explorator, and even Rogue Trader recon missions were dispatched to investigate. None of these missions were able to report success in locating the system, nor even find any trace evidence of its fate. The entire system had simply disappeared, never to be seen again. Or so it seemed.

¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

Phargos Hex History
Phargos Hex has a long, if generally unremarkable history. Records indicate perpetual human habitation dating back to The Great Crusade, with the already civilised and technically advanced world brought into compliance without significant conflict. Since approximately 5000 years ago, human life has been concentrated in the minor tower hive, Agartha. Various ecological and climatic changes left the world mostly barren, and Agartha has relied on agri-worlds for approximately half of its food supply since that time.

¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

Imperial Presence
The system is of only moderate interest to the Imperium beyond its capacity to provide Imperial Guard regiments, fill the Black Ships and provide manufactured goods. The extensive asteroid fields at the extremities of the system have proved largely impractical to exploit due their highly irregular, unpredictable patterns. The planet has had its own stable government for thousands of years and has shown little sign of internal unrest. For this reason, Imperial presence is sparse, with a minimal number of Adeptus Arbites and an Imperial Governor largely content to remain within his Spire at the tip of Agartha. It is not unknown for small Imperial Guard detachments and even smaller Astartes detachments to make use of the orbital AdMech facility en route to other locations but it is almost unheard of for either group to make planetfall.

¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

AdMech Presence
Much interest in the world came from AdMech Explorator missions investigating reports of STC fragments. Although some data fragments recovered between M32 and M33 did prove of value in reconstruction of partial templates found elsewhere, these were of only moderate military and technological utility. One interesting quirk of the world, however, was that repeats of commonly known STC templates and some of the fragments already recovered were retrieved from a large number of isolated systems at sites scattered around the planet. This made the planet useful as a training destination for junior AdMech learning the process of data discovery and extraction in real-life situations. Small archeotech hoards still turn up from time to time, though not of sufficient size to interest the AdMech, nor frequently enough to interest serious scavengers. The AdMech orbital training facility, though less well-manned than in previous times, still operates and can service Imperial needs when necessary.

¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

Outer System
The Phargos Hex system has been unable to maintain system-wide security integrity due to a large number of stable jump points and extensive asteroid fields in the outer system. This has, for the most part, been limited to void pirates and small groups of smugglers. Xenos presence in the system consists primarily of transitory Greenskin warbands, with Blood Axe and Freebooter groups most common amongst these. Eldar corsairs have also been known to seek temporary shelter in the outer system. With the AdMech facility in orbit, these small forces have rarely been known to approach the planet, and actual offensive actions are all but unheard of, with any attempts resulting in being blasted out of the sky as vessels identified as hostile leave the surface.

¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

The Event
On 4591875.M41 the short-range conveyor ship Willing Servant made a warp jump from the system's primary jump point. By ship's reckoning, the vessel reappeared at the same jump point some 32 standard hours later, by which time some 3 standard hours had passed in-system. Assuming some sort of system failure, the vessel returned to the orbital docking base from which it had departed to run diagnostic checks.
In the meantime, another vessel, the Wary Saint, had also attempted and failed to depart from the same jump point. Wary Saint made a second attempt, also resulting in an unplanned return. Imperial Governor Zhuhar Khutan ordered astropathic communication be made with any available nearby system with an astropathic choir. The attempt was entirely unsuccessful, with the trio of astropaths involved reporting that their attempted contact simply wouldn't work. They could detect other astropaths to direct their messages to, but no contact could be established.
Attempts were subsequently made by other vessels from the primary jump point and several secondary jump points. All attempts simply resulted in a period of warp travel after which the ship returned to the starting point, having experienced as much as twenty times as long as had passed in the system itself.
Realising the system was fully isolated Governor Khutan ordered all Arbites forces back to the upper reaches of Agartha to protect Imperial facilities. Domestic authorities similarly entrenched their position, with Planetary Defense Forces securing the main hydroponics enclosures and other food farms. With no incoming food from nearby agri-worlds, it would not be long before the current political situation on Phargos Hex became unstable.

¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

Post-isolation
Within a standard week of the system becoming isolated rumours began to circulate amongst the general population. Panic led to food riots within days, despite the fact warehouses had enough food to last for months. Over a period of seven to eight weeks, large swathes of the lower and mid-level hive were destroyed or damaged. What foodstocks had existed were entirely used up, with more being destroyed in the carnage than was actually eaten. Whereas the criminal element had previously been of the mostly organised type, with protection racketeering and vice the most profitable areas, numerous gangs now sprang up, controlling territory and resources and enforcing what little law could be established.

¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

Now
The common citizenry of the mid-levels mostly cowers in fear. Little industry takes place, and in most areas, daily survival is the only concern. Scavenging is becoming a way of life, and a barter system is all that keeps most people fed. Starvation is rife, and only those strong or cunning enough survive.
In the lower levels, the situation is even worse, with cannibalism plainly evident, violence endemic and rumours of even worse unsavoury practices beginning to emerge. In the most desperate situations, people make the most desperate pleas for help, and are heard.
In the upper spires, food is sufficient, if not plentiful, but authority springs from the barrel of a gun, and many of those holding the guns have ties to those cut off in the levels below. Armaments and ammunition finds its way to those who need them from unscrupulous fences in the PDF.

¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

The Imperial enclave at the tip of Agartha seems secure, but the Governors authority stems from the Imperium, whose forces may appear at any time. With no way to call for support, is his position as secure as he thinks?
In the skies above, The Adeptus Mechanicus remain as inscrutable as ever. The orbital facility is unlikely to fall to attack, but since the isolation began, contact has become increasingly sporadic, and who knows what is in the mind of their tech priests?
In the outer system, void pirates, corsairs, freebooterz and smugglers have all tried and failed to leave via their own semi-stable jump points. Food is running out, and where else is there to turn?
As yet unknown to anyone, in-system or out of it, one of the Rogue Trader missions has, in fact, found Phargos Hex... but is now unable to leave to report their discovery.
Perhaps most menacing of all, an unidentified Space Hulk has also drifted out of the warp and into the system. Who knows what horrors it brings?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The campaign started last week. Photos are on the blog, but here are the words...

http://overwa.tch.li/blog/2015/10/03/oppressors-and-saviours-emerge/

Oppressors and saviours emerge

Following the riots in the mid and lower levels, food was scarce. Any true Imperial presence had re-treated to the upper levels, any local law enforcement had either fallen to the mob, or joined it. Even the Ecclesiarchy, in those rare cases it had not also fled to the upper levels, struggled to main order amongst its flock. It came as a surprise to many that the protein sludge storage facility did not fall to the mob during the riots, but the building had previously been a munitions depot, and the workers were able to seal the entrances. Whilst the thick steel doors were more than a match for a rabble of starving and panicked citizens, when the planetary defense forces descended from the upper levels, the facility fell after the briefest of struggles. Locals watched in despair as the only source of food in the area was emptied into transports and hauled away, before attempting to bring down several Arvus Lighters as they sped away.

Whilst most of the contents of the lighters was destroyed, it quickly came to the attention of several local gangs that several small crates of highly nutritious protein sludge had survived, and gangers were dispatched to retrieve the precious sludge packets.

The Red Hand, a former illegal trade union who had begun operating more publicly since the event, arrived at one site but quickly found themselves opposed by the Headhunters v3.0, a mysterious gang of which few details have yet emerged. The Red Hand were able to obtain most of the food and drive off the Headhunters v3.0, further strengthening their grip on the areas and resources they controlled. The fight centred on a large tower which saw a great deal of fighting.

Elsewhere, Rennus’ Remnants, a small group of Imperial Guardsmen who had been unable to gain entry to the upper levels set upon the Valentinos, a close-knit gang dedicated to the survival of the friends and families in their home hab-zone. During a bloody affair, the Valentinos lost a vital member of the gang – the only man with a heavy stubber. Lost, literally, as no other gang member saw what befell him, and all that was found was a blood trail leading into a vent. The Valentinos limped away, bloodied, but with a quantity of precious foodstuffs for their community.

But a short distance away, The Family Circle, a disreputable gang of former ‘biscuit’ dealers, now proprietors of a string of sordid establishments, faced the trader, Ming, and his Mongo’s. Stranded on the planet, Ming had assumed he would be able to gain safe access to the upper levels, but a rival took the perfect opportunity to discredit Ming, and not only deny him access to the relative safety of the upper hive, but also his only space worthy vehicle. Ming, forced to enter the mid-levels, was fortunate to have a squad of his well-armed elite guard with him when this happened. During the fight, several of the Circle fell, and Ming’s forces took the day, enabling Ming to further establish himself at the heart of the settlement he had adopted as his home.

At all three sites, a fierce creature was spoken of, and several gangers claimed to have either fought it off all been injured by it. They were, of course, laughed at. Except the one who vanished, never to be seen again

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.
