Sup Dakka!

After a long wait i have thankfully acquired quite a good Catachan lot after 2 years! Im stoked and have found so far, they are a much needed break from Space Marines! When i think of Catachans i obviously think of jungle warfare, therefore my vision for my guys, was them stalking up some stream in the middle of the jungle looking to set-up a trap, and/or outflank the enemy, so i tried to bring that aspect out in the bases, it's my first attempt at something like this, but i am fairly happy with the result! I also have a command squad painted up, and based to be more toward's the rear of the march, sitting on a sandy embankement! Now i have another 35 or so infantry to do, 8 heavy weapons teams, a chimera, and a basilisk! I have stripped them all down, now just reassembling, re-priming, re-painting! I will also be picking up a Leman Russ or 2 in the near future! So welcome to my blog!

So i finished up another 10 infantryman, i tried out a different technique for doing the water on these guys. Not sure which one i like, as the last batch i tried to make it have a bit of texture, to give it a running water kinda look! Special note the guy with the glasses in the last pic is the man! Also think i found a better way of snapping pictures with this crappy phone, so i think the picture quality is alot better then my 1st post.

Aha! I've found another Catachan general! I have recently started do them instead of my Tallarn, mainly for all the options that comes with being made of plastic and not $40 a box lol.

Anyways, it's looking good so far, I look forward to seeing some more. With all the water themed bases, you may want to look at the often overlooked "amphibious" quality of chimeras. There's a blurb in the codex about some Catachans that use them as boats to cross rivers and stuff. Just a thought!

Would this be something i would have to scratch build? I did receive a Chimera in my lot of stuff i traded for. Here's a list just to give everyone an idea of what im working with!

1 Baneblade (may re-paint not sure yet)
1 Basilisk (may re-paint not sure yet)
1 Chimera (i have started to prime some black/grey camo thus far on it)
35-45 Infantry men (have 7 left primed, working on another 5 that will be done tonight, rest painted)
1 Gaunt
8 Heavy Weapons Squads (all primed cept for the 1 i painted/posted)
A ton of extra bits (Cadian and Catachan, dont have much use for the Cadian stuff, tho i did use 1 head for my cmd squad)
1 Command Squad (Painted already!)


I plan on adding some Snipers (i love snipers!) and of course some Leman Russ's, as well as a Valk or 2.

I have built a few snipers myself, they are loads of fun to use. They are actually decent against monstrous creatures (and pesky meltagunners!) as well.

Good deal, yes before the bit of a nerf the new SW codex gave to my snipers, i had 20 of built painted and kitted lol, i used to love em! I really like the sculpt of the catachan snipers. I cannot wait to start painting some of them! I should have a update on the next 5 infantry men here in a few hours, waiting for the PVA glue to dry, tryed yet a 3rd way of doing water/stream bases so hopefully it works out!

Back at it! Managed to hit a FLGS today and get a 2k point game in with my buddy, SW vs Tyranid's, and my Wolves for completely gak canned lol! Anyways i have finished the last 2 infantry men! As well as 1 more heavy. I now have 6 more heavy team's to knock out, then it's onto my Chimera and Basilisk (which i have already primed in preperation of a good re-paint!)

Another day another update, i have made a little slow progress on the heavy weapon teams, but in the meantime i got the camo basecoat down on both my Chimera and my Basilisk! I was a little intimidated trying camo for my first time on a vehicle, but after pondering on it a bit it was'nt all that bad at all. I took a piece of carboard, and carved camo pattern's on it, cut em out, and just painted thru them! Was quite easy and came out well enough for me! Now i have to finish my heavy weapons teams, then i can move onto detailing the tanks up! But for a quick 2 minute basecoat im happy!

So another day, another update! I finished up 5 Heavy weapon teams (1 is cadian, it hurts my heart!!!!) and got a matte coat on my last 2 infantry! I have ton's o bitz leftover so i have made another Capt. w/ PF and also created my very own MARBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ill have some pic's up soon as i finish em up!

Im really liking those water affects. All the models are turning out to have great personality and form!

So here's my update, rather tired today so i wont be making much progress (did a bit of painting), so without further ado, here is all the infantry i have painted in the last 1 1/2 weeks! This is from stripping down to full painted/coated, so im happy with the progress! Ill say it again, painting these guy's is a welcome relief from painting Space Marines!

I got all of em in a lot swap, so i was fortunate i suppose lol.

Currently working on a conversion Commisar/Company Cmndr/Some type of HQ. Was at the flgs today playing my IG and happened to notice the model! It was 32mm so some converting was in order! Will post pic's once he is finished!

So i converted myself a new company commander, it came out meh, but i have posted him anyway. Converted from a Warzone Ressurection "Mitch Hunter and Pride". They are 32mm model's and i have 0 greenstuff, so it came out so-so in my opinion. I was able to resize him a bit and get him close enough that it's not a huge deal. I really wanted to customize a company commander with some purple for my Regiment!

Well here's the last remnant's of Infantry i finished up, i now have the Chimera on my painting station (although i am not excited, i hate painting vehicles!). So we shall see how it comes out, i have some new techniques i wanna try out.

Quick update before i pass out! I have almost finished my Chimera to a decent standard, just a few details and things to go over and then were good to go! Also assembeled 5 more infantry from all my random bits w/ some heavy weapons, a medic etc.. Will have pic's tommorow!

So to pre-face this, i absolutely hate painting vehicles! (My StormWolf was a must buy, dreaded painting it lol). With that said, im decently happy with the outcome. I ripped out the Cadian driver, and threw some Catachan attitude at it lol.




P.S. The rope is since repaired, did not realize it had come apart!

Extremely long week at work, but i have been steady working on my basilisk. Will be putting the finishing touch's on it tommorow and putting some pics up!

I ordered a 3 pack of Catachan Snipers offa ebay, so they should be here Monday (priority shipping my ass!). Also have the 5 extra i made with Bitz, there based up and primed!

Touche lol! I dunno, one of my favorite movie's as a child was Predator, so when i look at Catachan Jungle Fighters, it's just perfect! I will say, IG is a lot more pleasent to paint after painting 100+ SM.

i used a lot of catachan parts too for my Tanith so i 100% agree.

Back again, with another update! Tryed to a different style base with these last 5 Infantry men, went for a more rubble look, and messed around with some shades and drybrushing.
