I've never been there so please forgive my ignorance but is a 6pm close on the part that I assume the gaming tables are in on Friday and Saturday nights not ridiculous?

It was previously open till 10pm, but I guess they are now closing earlier due to doing the refurbishment work

Yup it renders them largely useless on all but the Wednesday for anyone that has daytime comittments.
There were only about 20 tables (maybe 1/4th of the usual space) when I was in (Sat 23rd) and whilst the gaming tables were all taken, the place was pretty much deserted. But then the tram works make it harder to get there as well (you can only get in from the south via Lenton lane), so the new opening hours probably make sense.
Is there any indication of when it'll finish yet?

I believe that the Citadel miniatures hall is reopening 'Early 2015', so I guess that gives us an estimate as to the finishing dates!
Bit annoyed as I've never been, but my university accommodation for next year is a 20 minute walk away. Will have to wait till next year before I can experience it in its full glory!

Wait they aren't closing half of warhammer world's gaming space and replacing it with cabinets full of models to look at are they?

What type of place opens at 10 and closes at 6? The only place I can think of are zoo's, and just so the animals get a good nights rest.....

They are having a refit- they'll more than likely change the open times once they're finished.

Go as soon as you can, whilst it still looks like a Fantasy world and before it turns into a generic glass convention centre. Bugmans will still be open, as is 1/3rd of the gaming space and possibly also the miniatures hall.
After the refurb it'll have a smaller gaming area and more convention rooms, and will probably lose a few of the bigger display pieces or tables.

Ah, I just had an epiphany.
Warhammer Fest is going to happening here from this point in isn't it? The Richoh is just a stop gap while the remodelling happens then from next year GW will be able to control EVERYTHING! Because that's what they must do in order to be successful (or something.)

Yup, after the remodel the aim is to host everything (including new stuff) in WHW. IIRC it reduces the gaming space but increases the exhibition space including a few extra seminar sized rooms.
