So I am in the process of building my first gaming board. I am basing the design off Hab Center Andreas from the Space Marine game. So I drew a CAD drawing to get some rough measurements and an idea how to build it. I got some models off the 3D Warehouse for scale, so thanks to the people who built them.







This first terrain piece is built. Yes that is a standard Terminator, and yes the piece is really big


More to come... would love some feedback.

So I hit the terrain table for an hour or so and manged to get the main part of the corner piece done. There is still a bit more to do like the other ramp and the rocks on top, as seen in the CAD drawing. Its coming together pretty well i think

Yep, extruded polystyrene. Great stuff for terrain. Also know as insulation foam or XPS.

It's generally impossible for me to find the stuff. Then one day I was in my local hardware store and a godly beam of pure white light shone down from the heavens and there it was in a big stack so I bought a few sheets lol.

Yea its great stuff, which reminds me, I'm sure I have a couple sheets on top of my old wardrobe at my dads house, maybe a trip is in order!

So I really hit the foam all day today and manage to all but complete the gaming board and get two games in on it





I still think one or two more rock pieces are needed to give some cover in the back of the board near the bridge. And of course build the real. bridge.

Worked on the bridge today and some extra rock pillars for the end of the board.
Just gluing the paddle pop sticks to the edge to hide the foam board base.

Looks great. I like that fact that you are building up with pieces that are quite tall. Lots of stuff to break LoS.

Building a gaming table is something that I think I'd like to at least try. I just lack the space for it :(

Ok so the thread went dead for a while because I have been a little lazy lately but I have done some stuff over the past day or so. I mixed some plaster powder with PVA glue and a little bit of water to make a paste to fill the gaps. And add some unevenness to the flat surfaces.

Looks very cool so far!
