Whoa. That is an amazing fleet. I'm pretty sure you have more ships than tng-era starfleet.

Are the Gorn and Fed Fighters out already?

Thanks, until the Dominion war started on DS9 it did seem like the Federation was always short on ships. How many times did we hear on Next Gen "we are the only ship in the sector". Maybe Starfleet is just fast at building them.

The fighters were a participation prize for the Dominion War month 6, I play 3 OPs a month. I got the Gorn ships for winning 2 Arena OPs. The 3rd is for coming in 2nd at a Collective OP, the store was short a Raven so they told me I could choose from any ship they had prize or retail. Both are coming out for retail in 2015, January for the Fed fighters and March for the Gorn.

Interesting, I read various things about this and according to writers/staff Star Fleet was operating a tired fleet during early NG, lots of older ships, small science vessels etc as the region had become so much more peaceful just prior to the series starting, the only recent war had been against the Cardassians, a race that, at the time, had not proven a significant threat. This was reflected in the design and capabilities of the Galaxy Class, a flagship that was more luxury liner/science lab than warship. It was the Borg that finally changed that complacency, especially given how very easily they tore up the fleet assembled at Wolf 359. That single battle nearly toppled the federation and shook the complacent galactic power to the core.

The Akira, Defiant etc specifically designed for war and the Intrepid class explorer packing more firepower than a pre-upgraded Galaxy.

And then the Sovereign class flagship/battleships, replacing the rapidly outpaced galaxies at the pinnacle of the Federation's fleet, no more elegant curves, no more plate-swallowing swan, stripped down, practical, armoured and armed to the tits.

If the Borg hadn't launched a frankly lazy single cube takeover attempt, then the Dominion would have taken down the Feds in very short order, especially given the kicking it had already received from the Klingons in the brief war.

Show off. 2 DS9s. I am kidding. Nice collection there you have. Now I will be really impressed if you have actual names serial numbers for them all. LOL. Again kidding.

Curious, what don't you have? What more of do you want?

I just found some old Star Trek minis of mine from 15 or 20 years ago. Well they are actually toys but look like minis. I may use them but I guess they won't count for AW purposes.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Seems like a pretty accurate assessment. The other thing to mention is, it seems like it took a while for Starfleet to get the Akiras, Steamrunners, and Sabres out there. Seems like the first Akira did not sail out of space dock until seven years after Wolf 359.

Well so far I don't have:
-Bajoran interceptor
-8472 Bioship
-retail Vulcan Suurok class
-Borg Scout Cube
-Stargazer
-Target Prime

Hopefully in the next few weeks I can add some of these to my collection. I used to get 2 or more of everything but now we are getting into things I don't really have an interest in like the Bioship and Mirror Univers. Though the mirror Defiant will depend on what it comes with.

As for old toys I sometimes use a micro machines TOS Enterprise instead of the WK model. It just looks nicer in TOS games.

We had our mixed faction Collective OP3 today lets us say things went well and some reinforcements came home with me

The Stargazer is awesome, the constellation class has always been one of my favorite ships. The Target Prime is pretty cool. The best part about the Target Prime pack is that it has 2 ship tokens. I may have to look on ebay for a Tactics Galaxy class so I can use both.

The WK model isn’t bad, but I like my repainted Micro Machine model. I bought this on ebay the week before Attack Wing was released. I have used it as a constitution class, but now am happy it can have its proper place.

I am thinking my next battle report will be the Battle of Maxia

Thanks, every time my wife goes in the basement she just rolls her eyes and says "your toys are beginning to take up more room than the kids"

I had 2 OPs this past weekend so there were a few additions.
a 2nd Yeager
a 2nd Maquis ship
a 2nd Vorta Vor
borg scout cube
Enterprise E (my 3 year old made me buy it, or at least that is what I told my wife)

I didn't win any of my OPs this weekend, but I did get the fellowship prize at one and snagged myself a 2nd Stargazer

Yeah a friend of mine had similar things to say about me on Saturday when I won the fellowship prize. I played the same lits that I played in my last mixed faction OP3
40 names sphere
10 flagship (scan)
05 weyoun
04 conditional surrender
06 spock
08 feedback pulse
04 transwarp drive
10 hull armour

The 1st time I used this list my blind was the 3rd wing patrol ship. I wemt 3-0 and got something ridiculous like 640 fleet points destroying both cube & sphere in all 3 games.

The 2nd OP was less successful I went 1-2, blind ship was the Vorta Vor. 1st game I missed destroying the cube by 1 hit and only got the sphere and lost by 2 points. 2nd game was similar, I took out the cube but missed the sphere buy 1 shot again , lost by 3 points. The last game I won taking out both. I am not sure where I stood in the end, but our TO gives the fellowship to a random person, which ended up being me I didn't mind that. I am happy with 1 Target Prime, but I really wanted another Constellation class.

I had a lot more fun with my Kirk dreadnought at my 3rd OP3. I got the Vorta Vor againm making it an all TOS fleet Going 2-1 in a field dominated with super cubes and Voyager dreads make you feel good inside

So the mailman arrived today and left a package

I will have to repaint them as I did my other Stargazer. I am not big on painting ships for this game, however I cannot stand the look of the USS Jaundice that Micro Machines has made. Don't get me wrong I love the model but the paint job is horrible. From what I understand Micro Machines went off the model from Picard's office on TNG instead of the Stargazer studio model. It paints up easy so its no big deal .

Shhhhh.... one is on a Constitution Class base. The Stats are identical and the only difference in the dial are that the Constitution has a 2 reverse and the Constellation has a 1. Other than that they are the same. So for large TNG era games they can be part of the mothball fleet.

I have never cared about scale in this game, but for these 2 classes I just find Micro Machine models more pleasing to the eye than WK. Everything else WK has made is good, but when James Kirk is on the table I want people to know where he is

I saw a bloody amazing group of indy ships and vulcans all painted up in 'evil pirate' colors of black/grey and red, with the total design differences of the ships but tied together by the scheme really did make them look like a ragtag merc/privateer force.

Also saw some kazon repainted in metallics, sudden transformation.

Both were on the STAW fb page.

Nice job on the Hidekies . I haven't done any repaints, but I keep thinking about making the Scimitar match the rest of the fleet.

I had my first RiF 3 this past weekend and I came away pretty happy we had a lower turnout this time. My blind was the Prakesh and because of the turn out we were allowed to buy an extra blind. I got another Bok's marauder, bringing my Ferengi fleet up to 6 ships. I also picked up the Fina Prime. I think I am the only person in the world to buy this ship. I looked all over the place to find out info on its firing arc and found 0 So for any of you interested, it has a 90 front and a klingon like dial. I have had better showings though, I went 1-1-1. I came in 2nd and that is who gets the 2nd prize at this venue. I won overall coming in 1st for the grand prize though, 1st month 1, 1st month 2, 2nd month 3.

It takes better lighting, but the green in the prize cube is really cool looking. It stands out from the regular cube pretty well.

I like the Trager a lot, keep an eye out I am thinking it will show up inma battle report soon The generic borgified Galar is perfect for Dukat, 5 attacks and 4 shields is ace for a cardassian ship and beefier then a Keldon. The named Assimilated ???? has 5 shields but I'm not sure it is worth the extra 2 points.

I have another OP 3 coming up in a few weeks so we will see how it goes. Unfortunately I will only have 2 events this month, my faction pure event was canceled very sad, I quite enjoy faction pure.

I really liked the concept of the Vidiians, the costumes and so on (despite them being on my least favorite trek)... but that ship is UGLY. Perhaps a paint job might partially redeem it but still, it does look like it was whipped up by the tea boy on his lunch break.

Wife is already eyeing that cardie ship though, she loves the firing arcs on them...

Darn you Meangreenstompa, now you have me thinking about that Assimilated ???? Ship.

30 points for the named ship is a little meh, but 40 points to throw borg hull armour on it and give it
Dukat and you have a very mean faction pure ship. Not super competitive but a great flagship type
center piece for you fleet in fun campaign games. Hmmm 4 hull, 5 shields, and armour. Plus you can
save you resource to make the Trager or Koranok your flag ship.

I am actually thinking about picking up a 2nd Vidiian ship. Kazon vs Vidiian really appeals to me for some reason

Yeah... She just asked me what the point of the rest of the Dom fleet really was as the cardie ships of the line seem to fill a great middle ground and can be upgraded into beasts relatively easily.

I suggested we look into the scarab ships and the flying brick battleship before she writes the rest of the fleet off but she was unimpressed with the breen ship and the cruiser (which I have to say I really liked, I think it's purely firing arcs she's been won over by, considering she's just playing my sneaking romcoms)...

The breen ship is tough to build around. It is soo fragile, but when that ED goes off look out. Now against the warbird from the starter set it may do OK, because of the low attack value of the romulan. It will take some practice, though if she has the Rav Larest that helps because of the sensor echo. Wait until she brings a swarm of 3-4 jem hadar fighters against you that will be interesting and fun.

Your wife may also come around to the other ships once she realizes how much more maneuverable they are over the cardassian, battleship excluded.

She's been talking to me about an 'arrowhead' formation whereby there's a tanked up cardie in the front, two just behind it and so on, according to points, everything falling into the firing arcs of those behind them, finally backed up with highly mobile JH ships or fighters. Making it all but impossible to get around... I like it and can't think of much of a counter to it tbh with my need to play rogue and 'backstab'...

That is when you pull out the scimitar and start one shotting those Cardies . Though that theory goes out the window if she gets her hands on that assimilated galor and some hull armour. But some well timed sensor echoes will get you behind them.

So, if one wanted to get "to scale" models, would the AMT 1:2500 scale Cadet Series models be a good idea? I just saw the TOS Constitution class model on an Attack Wing base, it looked big, but not too big, plus, they currently have these in 2500 scale, Constitution, Constitution Refit, Excelsior Refit, Sovereign Class, Miranda Refit, USS Saratoga, Defiant Class, Galor, K'vort, K'Tinga, Romulan BoP (TOS), Ferengi Marauder, D-7. Not sure if they have the Galaxy and Ambassador in 2500 scale yet.

Would that be a good idea?
