The new Space hulk states its very limited. Does anyone have any inside information as to how limited very limited is?
Usually GW give you an indication on numbers.

Here is a link to my new ebay store miniatures of the millennia. We buy and sell second hand war gaming miniatures mainly warhammer 40k. There is not much listed at the minute as we are waiting on ebay to lift there limits on us and then we have loads to list. Take a look

Limited is when it's sold out that is it. There could be 5000 or 10 000 copies, we don't know.

It's not a 2000 copies Limited Edition, just limited in sales. So once gone, they are gone again.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

These days it seems everything from GW is limited. Have they run out of cash to overproduce and keep some in stock? I remember the days you could ring mail order and ask for any part or sprue and it would be in stock.

I'm also annoyed 'cos I went to my model store saturday morning, bought my White Dwarf... my lad looked at it that morning and asked for it for xmas. I went online at dinner to order it and it was sold out.
Sorry kid - no Space Hulk for you for xmas. I aint paying silly prices for it on ebay. GW's loss though. I'll spend the cash elsewhere on non GW stuff. He'll have forgotten about it by December anyway :-p

I tried dabbling with 40k9/10 again and tried AoS3 - Nice models, naff games, but I'm enjoying HH2 and loving Battletech Classic and Alpha Strike.

Those were the days. On several occasions I bought piles of bits from different kits for the sake of conversions. How times have changed.

Oh well, that answers that for me. Been away from GW games for years and this got me interested, but too late for me now. Hey ho, FFG it is then.

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

GW will not let customers know how many are available- they are trying to get the most out of the term "LIMITED NUMBERS" without running the risk of having leftover stock on a possibly low number.

This happened with the Limited Edition Release of the 7th edition of the 40k rulebook- there was an exceptionally low number that were produced (half the 6th edition production) and they still sat in the online store, ticking down slowly for a couple of months. It looked bad for GW and rather than trying to address the issue of *why* the limited items weren't always selling out, they just started dropping the number tag.

It also increases impulse-buying, as customers are terrified that stock is nearly depleted and therefore buy immediately.

I was seriously considering a purchase of a second set, even though I got one last time around.

Like the previous poster, a re-release of Necromunda or Warhammer Quest (maybe Mordheim) would have me throwing cash at GW for as many copies as I could get my hands on.

My local GW manager told me he was getting 1 extra in store for every pre-order he got. So if you couldn't pre-order then head on down to your local GW and pick up a copy on release day. Plus FLGS' might have some too. So It's not the end of the world if you missed out.

GW is messing up the pre-order process though - the goal of a pre-order is to gauge interest and adjust your manufacturing appropriately and then ship it to the places that want it the most. They are really hamstringing their sales.

I was actually going to buy it if it ever became available again.

Due to GW's lack of actual advertising, I didn't know it was even up for pre order until I read here it was pretty much already sold out.

So that money goes elsewhere instead.

Might sell my Battlefleet gothic armies because I bet a re-release of that will be next when GW look at the prices they are selling for online

Yeah, I'm sure Dreadfleet Gothic will be a huge hit with its 0 expansions and 8 possible ships.

Could be worse - could be a Space Fleet re-releases. 2 Imperial Gothic Cruisers and 1 Eldar Wraithship. A bunch of cards, dice rolling in the lid. Yours for £80

Entertainingly, FFG is happily munching into GW's market share with X-Wing, a game with 2 Tie fighters and 1 X-wing in the starter box ! Not £80 granted

Or Armada, which is actually just 2 Rebel ships and a Star Destroyer for £80!

It looks to be back in stock, right? It showed as out over the weekend for me, but maybe they're doing it in waves:

I don't think it ever went out of stock in the US, only the UK.

Hopefully they just massively underestimated the UK online demand because they figured people would go to the shop and buy it. I hope that's the case and it stays in stock for a while. If it's still in stock in a month or so I'll buy it, but I really can't justify it right now because I just spent a ton of money on other non-essentials.

Well, that's a little more useful than the GW website typically is!

Still, I cannot fathom why they don't make this a core game and better exemplify the whole "games" part of gamesworkshop.

Because they want to encourage panic buying. They don't care if we never open the box, they just want to do a print run of something that sells out immediately and the easiest way to do that is to make everything "buy now before it's too late". They also have less stock on the website, because when it sells out there it looks popular and it drives people into the stores where they can be upsold all sorts - you'll need the WD:W for the missions, glue, paint sets, how about the Dark Vengeance set or some extra terminators whilst you're in? Or Warhammer: Visions (if it's still running). It's short sighted and irritating for customers, but if you don't care about that it's a brilliant strategy.

And it worked, because I pre-ordered one on spec; If I want it later it'll be sold out, and if I don't want it later I can sell it for my £75 back and people will be snapping my arm off for it. I'm pretty confident I can even play it through once and sell it on for what I paid.

The numbers I've seen floated around are something like 80-100k copies, so it's not going to be a massive collectors item in 30 years.

You might be able to pick up a copy in a GW if the store is open. Twice now I have taken time out to travel to my closest GW, about a 50 mile round trip when all said and done, only for it to be closed. Is it to much to ask for a shop to be open on a week day?
I am all about the online shopping now.
