I love the idea of the IH Chapter Master. He looks like one of the meanest bada$$es to walk the tabletop. The usual game size at my FLGS is 1000 points, hence this list. We play on a 8'x5' table, using half of it for games of 1k or less. We play for Kill Points, using objectives that give strategic bonuses such as re-rolls to hit/wound, and army-wide bonuses to charge distance.

With that in mind, I need a fair balance of mobility and killing power. To get to objectives, and to kill anything holding it.

The CM is a mobile hammer to the rest of the army's anvil. The Dread follows him around and provides more fire power, as well as some AA capability. The Tac-Marines in the Razorbacks are mobile while still throwing out great firepower, with the Razorbacks holding positions down with Assault Cannon fire.

What do you guys think?

the only thing i can really see is that your CM is gonna be one lonely [see forum posting rules] out there riding by himself... and he's gona draw A LOT of fire...

The CM should ride with some bike troops, or else you will need some other large threats pushing up the board simultaneously or he will get shot down. He does well in a command squad on bikes, or bike squad just for ablative wounds.

I think you could save some points by dropping a tac marine from each squad, the power fists from each tac sgt,, some of the gear on the CM (the storm bolter, tempered helm, melta bombs, digital weapons, etc.) and you can now afford a bare-bones bike squad that are troops, and can provide backup and ablative wounds for the CM.

You should probably even drop the plasma guns (or downgrade to melta) from the tac squads since they can't fire out of the razorbacks anyway and pick up 2 grav guns on the bike squad.

I think (if I have the points correct here) that even leaves you 75 points extra... so maybe fill out the bike squad with a MM attack bike? lots of options for how to spend the last points I guess (a Stalker/Hunter might not be a bad idea, seeing as there's lots of skimmers and FMCs out there).

Like this:

Chapter Master - bike, gorgon's chain, thunderhammer, artificer armor
Bike Squad (5) - grav x2
Tactical Squad (5) - melta gun, razorback w/twin-linked assault cannon
Tactical Squad (5) - melta gun, razorback w/twin-linked assault cannon
Contemptor Mortis Dreadnought - kheres assault cannon x2, cyclone missile launcher

I don't like heavy bolters on the attack bikes. For the points you're investing already, you might as well take advantage of the MMs they can all get. I think it's a really good unit though with the CM in it... lots of ways to spread wounds around, and can hit hard (with MMs). I'd go ahead and just drop the power fists from the tac squads (or downgrade them to a combi-melta and melta bomb) to get the points.

Looks really solid though, and I really really like the Attack Bike squad with the CM... like, a lot!

I was thinking the HBs to give the unit a bit of a ranged punch. It's like having 6 Fire Warriors with BS and AP 4 in a unit that still hits like a truck at close range.
