Long time lover of Space Wolves, first time building an army list for them. I'll let you know now, I LOVE the Thunderwolf Cavalry models. I've wanted to build an army around them since I've seen them. They look super badass and the idea of these giant men waving around hammers and swords atop these giant, hulking wolves seem super terrifying.

I understand that they can't be the ONLY part of the force, and I would require some anti-air probably and some other heavy hitters. So I'm thinking of adding some Terminators to fulfill this group of badasses.

So heres my first shot at it. I've played Tau and Tyranids so I'm a little unfamiliar with SM style stuff.

Not a perfect 2000, but its close. Any comments would be good. I'm a huge fan of both the Termis and the Cavalry models.

I guess strategy-wise, I would move as fast as I can across the field with the Cavalry and the wolves taking out what I can. Then have the Stormwolf come in and drop off the terminators with Arjac to close the gap. Keeping the Stormwolf to take out any air or other stuff.

Thoughts?

Fenrisian Wolves are fast attack, not troops

If you take the champions FOC you can do an all TWC army.

Ahhh yea that makes sense. It just needs 1HQ and 2 elites. Hrm. And troops lose objective secured, so I don't even really need the fenrisian wolves. As that didn't make sense. This type of list seems more fun to play.

How would you do this though? You there are no TWC in the elite section.

Iron priests can ride twc

Another idea - take two small squads of WG on bikes - just for scoring.

I like that, but unfortunately I really don't like the bikes in 40k. I'll have one slot filled with Terminators, so I think I might use the other required elite spot for a Dreadnought.

Dude, that looks like a lot of fun. I think I'll look at adding the Dreadnought and termis though, as I also enjoy those models and I want a little air support from the Stormwolf/fang.

Alrighty, so I've played around with the Company of the Great Wolf detachment. Its kind of a TWC deathstar. I've never built a deathstar, but thats not my objective. I just want to make a decent list thats a lot of TWC. So I guess strategy wise, I put the Iron Priests each in a squad of TWC leading the pack so that I can use their 2+ save to stop oncoming nonsense and have the Cyberwolfs LoS? Make sense? Then basically bust through up the field leaving death in their wake.

There terminators and Stormwolf come in and provide some air support and hopefully drop some terrifying terminators into the fray.

Thoughts?
