Hello dakka...
Im planning the basing of some converted squats/dwarfs in space for use in
40k (and in a minnor stend, warpath and deadzone). I intend to use them as Space Marines, and was planning to add some height to their bases, so they could stand at approximately 30mm high (so they can interact with the game just like their space marines counter parts would do). The point is that whyle i was searching for "easy" ways to add this highness i found that coke bottle caps fits it almost perfectly, and the problem is in this "almost".
The coke bottle cap stands around 11mm high and have 30
mm of diameter, wich will bring my squats around 32
mm high. Also, those caps are cool due to their look: i intended to base this unit with an industrial theme, wich the caps fits nicely with very small effort (im talking about some plasticard plates on the surface, a black basecoat and a silver drybrush).
My problem here is: should i do it? Would those 2 extra milimeters of highness, and/or the 5 extra milimieters of diameter botter you, if you was my opponent?
Im almost saying "i dont care, let me model my guys my way", but those are alredy converted "count as" miniatures, using lots of non
GW parts (the majority, i must say), wich bring me down a bit.
Please give me your opinion about this (and try to be gentle :/)
For reference, i intend to use a technique similar to this one:
