So my local gaming club have started Necromunda, beung late in the game and wanting a gang not already in the group I decided to go Spyrer.

I was thinking to go with:

2 x Orrus
2 x Malcador
1 x Yeld

Then I found ebay prices! Does anyone know of good proxies gor these models, minimal conversion would be required!

Have you considered anything from the Warlord Games Judge Dredd range?

Thanks I'll give them a look but managed to get my hands on

2 Orrus
2 Malcador
2 Yeld

Can hired guns be used by spyrer's?

A ) wow! lucky to find those mini's on eBay at an affordable price. I was going to suggest using Eldar/Dark Eldar to convert into spyrer.

B ) I always thought they couldn't have hired guns ... simply because the locals wouldn't like the upper hive dwellers that much. Can't find specific rules saying they can't, so suppose as long as the people your playing don't mind, go for it.

Though if your wanting to stick to a strong theme I'd suggest not taking hired guns (yes will be harder to play, but maybe more rewarding).

Spyrers aren't welcome in the underhive (hence the outlaw status) - so why would the locals want to work with them?

Well, GW have plenty of cool plastic kits, so converting them wouldn't be that difficult. Just get your hands on some (Dark) Eldar, Space Marine and Imperial Guard kits and you're there!

(( this entire post is based on the first released necromunda sourcebook and outlanders ))
I was under the impression that spyrers could not use hired guns...

...but, upon closer inspection, apparently this not the case. The Allegiance of all special characters means spyrers can not use them, and they can not hire Wyrds.
This means they can hire Pit Slaves and do not appear to be excluded from hiring any of the hired guns from the source book (underhive scum, bounty hunter or ratskin scout).

...but then there is this: "Spyrers never collect any income, never trade and can never buy extra gang members after initial recruitment. They are committed into the Underhive until they complete their vow."

With 2 orrus, 2 yeld and 2 malcadon you've aldready spent 1040 creds, leaving negative 40 creds for hired guns.

If your group doesn't let you have the extra 40 creds to start, you'd have to drop one of the spyrers... which means for the first few battles you'd be able to used scum/slaves to bolster your ranks.

Thanks for the messages guys, I really need to find a rulebook!

I went with the spyrers because most other gangs are represented in our club.

For the game I was thinking 2 Orrus, 2 Malcadon and 1 yield to stay under the 40 credits. Although coming into the games late I'm sure an extra 40 credits would be ok.

So with the hired gun thing v not being able to take extra gangers could I hire different hired guns each game?

It depends what rule edition you are using. The community edition says Spyrers must always come in gangs of five. No more. No less.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

^I should probably grab the living rulebook at some point :-D

In the old (outdated) 1st release of outlanders, the only mention of team size is unde the Vow special rules, A) ...if the team had six members... B mentions 4 and C 3..........

As Fifty said, depends on what rules are being used by your group.... in my xp spyrers are overpowered but if a member dies the team might as well resign... if you're starting late in a campaign it might give the other gangs a chance ;-)

I've really wanted to run a Spyrer gang if I ever played Necromunda, but my research usually said they will either get a fight with closer to even number (ambush, etc) and stomp all over the opponent, or else get challenged to a fight greatly outnumbered, and just withdraw off the board as fast as possible so they don't get injured/killed.

Didn't seem like a playstyle that would be fun for me or my opponent.

Like watching other people play video games (badly) while blathering about nothing in particular? Check out my Youtube channel: joemamaUSA!

Been a long time since I played Spyrers, but I believe one of my Malcs could run/charge ~16", sneaking around behind or dropping on top of people like the good little spider he was
