Yes initially it's 'iPad' only. Android support is to follow. Since it's just a glorified Epub/PDF reader it doesn't really interest me. Unless they distribute their errata document on it. Sadly there's not much form for that PP Digital doesn't.

Before anyone gets there panties in a bunch over the pricing...

Chris at Battlefront wrote:Hi guys, before the pricing discussion goes too far

The pricing in the advert was done months ago (print deadlines for WI are quite far in advance of the street date) and the negotiations over our book printing had not been completed at that time. The cost of the digital lists and books will be reduced to reflect the new lower print pricing.

The app itself is free, it is just the content that you may have to pay for.

And on the iPad vs Android vs etc etc front. Thanks to the wizardry of Google Analytics we know that more users browse the website on iPads than any other mobile device so we opted to start there. Don't worry non-iPad users in the office won't let us forget that there are mobile devices that don't have little Apple logos on them.

More info as soon as possible including a full run down on features, content, screen shots etc.

Have`nt mentioned pricing yet(give me time) but one good thing was the offer of including the FOW painting guides(Dirty tracks) as a free-ish download with the bundle That's if I read the blurb correctly ?

I wonder if I can get an apple sticker for my Nexus 7

More information...

James at Battlefront wrote:Hi, guys.

Just to clarify, Flames Of War Digital and Forces Of War are two different things.

Flames Of War Digital is what is advertised in November's issue of Wargames Illustrated (#325). It is an app that provides access to digital versions of Flames Of War books for reading on tablet devices. People have been asking for PDF versions of books for years, and that's basically what this is. At first it will be just for iPads through the iTunes App Store, but the Android version will follow as soon as it's ready. Anyone who has used WI Digital will know exactly what to expect.

Forces Of War is the online army builder which is going to replace Easy Army. It will still be administered by Gregg Siter, but with more active and hands-on support from Battlefront. Like Easy Army, it will be accessed through a web browser, so the platform doesn't matter - PC, Mac, mobile devices, Linux presumably (I don't know anything about Linux) - will all be fine.

The only things the two really have in common are the fact that they are both digital 'things' and the similar timing. Naturally, that's enough to conflate them in a lot of people's heads until we explain them both more fully. So I just wanted to clarify so people don't spend too much time worrying unnecessarily.

I hope that helps

It depends on the conversion price as to whether the books are worth it. I'll probably download it just for the extras (when it arrives on Android).

The closest I could find in the online store to the $14.99 price was the US600 M31 TRV for $14.50. On the UK site it retails for ₤9 so I would expect the price to be in that ballpark.

Getting Great War for free saves you at least $8.

As much as I love the books they can be a bit of a pain to get hold of locally at a decent price, so I'm positive to this. Hopefully there'll be an Android version available soon.
