Update Nov 13th at 5PM CST. Now 20 figs for $35USD. Only $1200 more to get another fig and unlock the Mechapede!

Attention Steampunk, Victoriana and Abney Park Fans...
RAFM miniatures launched a kickstarter today. It's to fund an expansion of their "Airship pirates" line of figures, which are based on the Abney Park RPG, the music of the band and general Steam-Punkery.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/941525798/rafm-new-airship-pirate-miniatures

The $40 Canadian ($35 USD) base pledge includes free shipping to US, Canada and the EU!

As Of Nov 13th, the base pledge includes:

The figs are stylized versions of the members of the band Abney Park, noted steampunk model Constance Bashford and various other steampunk types.

These are 30-32mm figs, so they're going to be a bit taller than GW, but with more realistic proportions. Probably a good match for Reaper Chronoscope and other modern 30mm+ lines of figures.

Here's the first Stretch goal, which will probably be hit as I type this.

Currently purchase-able add-ons include several miniatures, metal pins, Abney Park Album and the Airship Pirates RPG.

Agreed! RAFM itself is one of the things this project really has going for them. They've got a long history behind them. They had a KS that didn't fund, but their Indiegogo campaign for Cthulu miniatures reportedly shipped months ahead of schedule.

I backed both their Indiegogo and Kickstarter Cthulhu campaigns, and have been delighted with what I've received so far.

Will definitely be following this. The concept for the Imperial Marine is sick, and so is that of the Peeler Police Officer. I hope they go with a different pose for the latter though.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Gotta love Steampunk, but I think I'm tapped out for KS at the moment. If they revealed one of the stretch goals was a miniature of Professor Elemental....well, all bets are off then

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

^ Kickstarter gives more promotion to campaigns that have already funded in a short space of time, and it is done by multiples of the initial fund amount.

So, if you're running a preorder KS, it makes sense to have the fund goal as low as possible.

Their previous Air Pirates miniatures KS from last year failed to fund ($16.5K) and the mini's in the initial pledge are available from their catalog, so presumably the initial pledge miniature sculpts and molds have already been paid for.

That's why the MegaMiniatures Salvage Crew KS is also cheap. Backers aren't paying for (all of) the sculpting and mold-making costs.

RAFM's open to the next SG miniature. I'd go with the Skyfolk Pirate.

That's about the size of it. The Air Pirates have been available for a good amount of time. I really like this approach to a kickstarter. Leveraging existing lines/sculpts to expand a line or just get some figs back into production makes it easy for smaller companies to offer a very attractive deal right from the start while still meeting their overall goals.

I also pledged for the Salvage Crew KS. These two projects are some of the best deals in metal minis currently on KS and both just happen to be genres I already play or have wanted to try.

As for the next mini, Skyfolk is a good choice. I've got no time for "pirate" lines that are all scantily clad chicks, but one attractive and dangerous lass like the Skyfolk can add a good bit of flavor to a miniatures set. I'm mostly hoping for more Imperial types. I'm not holding my breath, but having more than one pose of imperial marine with rifle (or pistol) would be great.

Spoiler:

That's an awesome upgrade. I'd buy two of those packs for sure. this KS is really impressing me. I'm looking at this as a source of figs for In Her Magesty's name. I was onboard when the KS provided enough figs for one Company (what the game calls a warband or crew). It's getting to the point where the basic set plus a couple of upgrades will be enough for 2 Companies!

It is. I've actually not played it yet, but it's an expanded version of the free fan-made"In The Empror's Name" (ITEN) 40k warband skirmish ruleset that I've played several times and enjoyed.
http://thegamesshed.wordpress.com/2011/07/02/in-the-emperors-name/ I bought IHMN, soley off of my experience with ITEN. IHMN also has two expansions "Heroes, villans and Fiends" and "Sleeping Dragon Rising Son"

The core mechanics for both are quite streamlined and fun to play, with some battles taking less than an hour to complete. They're also very scenario based. You could just do stand-up fights, but that's not really the point of these games.

I don't have Ronin, but I really enjoyed the 2 game of OGAM that I've played. Our club usees OGAM for games where we want to field forces bigger than our regular Song of Blades and Heroes (with whom it shares many mechanics) games, but smaller than Kings of War.

Dr Johan and Doom Ray are amazing models, and while I think the Steam Tank is horrendous, it does keep true to the overall retro concept.
