Hello everyone, I have been trying to read about the costs of injection molded model production and have found some wildly contradictory statements on costs, and I wanted to know more about everything. I wanted to know what the average cost range was at each step to go from cad sculpting, to tooling, and then into production for a box of ten multipart 28mm models with parts options in GW level detail?

As I mentioned before I keep seeing conflicting statements (ranging from as little as $5,500 to $85,000) and I am curious to know a bit more, and wanted to know if anyone here on the boards could point me towards some articles on the topic or help elucidate me on this topic.

Whilst I think the cost of tooling has come down, it remains a 5 figure cost in a lot of cases. How complex the mould is will figure into the cost obviously. I could ask some of the plastics engineers at my university if nobody else can come with a better answer.

There's also a low-cost option that the guy at Troll Forged Miniatures does:

It's not HIPS, but it's plastic.

Then again, I hear he's rather swamped with production requests recently due to his own and other Kickstarters.
