Hello People at Dakka,

After being AFD(Away From Dakka) for a while..been lurking in the shadows tough ^^
Iam back with a new project.
Planning on making a diorama with not 1 but 2 dragons
Working on the first dragon at the moment..its the high elf dragon.
The plan is a scene depicting 2 dragons and their riders getting ready for ruining eachothers day
The second dragon will be the dark elf black dragon (still need to buy that one).
In my head it will look like the following..the black dragon wont be converted(or atleast not much) and will stay on the base that GW delivers with it(rocks and a tree wich supports the dragon).
The high elf dragon on the other hand will be converted since the flying/falling of a rock pose doesnt fit my plan..
Enough typing time for some pictures ^^
Hope you guys and girls like the progress so far c&c appreciated
Cheers
Mark

Time for a little update on the dragon.
What happened sofar?!
Well the armorplates on the neck have been sanded to a smooth look
Done some resculpting on the fleshy parts of the neck.
Since i dont want the spread out look on the wings but a more ready for takeoff and kick some ass look i swapped the wings arround..
So i drilled new holes and swapped the wings arround..now the wing that was supposed to go on the left side is now and the right side and the right wing is on the left side of the body.
As a result the little horns of the wing were now facing in a weird upward position..so i cut them off turned them in a downward facing position and glued them back on.
Wings are now glued on and with the help of some GS the gaps are filled and the wings are looking good
Enough tekst time for some pics!
Regards
Mark

Huh, how are you modelling the dragon, and still painting him while it's on sprue? o.O or is that a second/other dragon you got on the sprue?
Neat work on the wings, when you were describing it I tought it would never look good, but that's actually an interesting pose you created!

@Sveamore tvm for the kind words
@Soulcow nicely spotted ^^ there are 2 head options in the box 2 tail options and 2 options for spine details (option1 are spikes/horns option 2 is a sail like thingie going over the neck/spine) iam doing a hybrid with spines behind his head and the sail on the rear/tail.
And offcourse the dragon is build up completely and iam did the test paintjob on the spare parts.
The pose of the dragon was from the first time i saw it on the internet a problem for me...imho the dragon looks like he is falling of the rocks instead of swooping off them to ruin someones day.
Since i dont have great sculpting skills i took a little risk by going for this beasty to be honest this is my first serious attempt to go for some resculpting and its a small attempt in comparrison with the kickass green stuff conversions i saw here and on the web.
The wings were easy to do just drill holes straight down into the body..swap the wings arround redo the horny parts on the wing and use some filler to resculpt the join between wings and body.
@Lipsdapips tvm for the kind words

Had a moddeling day off today might get back with a update tommorow
Getting much motivation from the positive comments i get
Also cant wait to get to painting the beast like the blue still not sure on the fleshy parts i did on the test parts open for suggestions!
Have a nice evening

Hello People at Dakka,

Its time for slapping on some primer on the dragon!
Finished the first part of the base for the dragon.
I build it by sawing the base GW delivers with it in half and from there i build it up.
Materials used are treebark, pieces of cork a hot glue gun and super glue.
When i fit the onderground piece to the diorama base you wont see the sawed up GW base i used,it will be blended in with the rest of the scenery that will go on the definate diorama.
Time for some pics! and after that ill hopefully be back with a primed dragon ^^
