I'm a complete noob, so I was wondering if the sets ever come with extra pieces... After mostly assembling my Menoth Cinerators, I have a couple spare pieces that I don't know how to use... Is this normal?

For the guy who leaves it all on the field (because he doesn't pick up after the game).

Most of the sets don't come with any extra pieces, if you don't count the options to make different heavy jacks/ beasts from the boxes containing 3 build options.

I haven't assembled the cinerators, but I suspect that there shouldn't be any extra bits in the box. Might be you have a miss pack...

I have found it best when working with PP unit boxes to lay out the models before assembly. Personally I do this in a few steps but then I can be a bit OCD.

1. Lay out the leg bits
2. Lay out the torsos
3. Lay out the arms
4. Weapons
5 Heads
6, Fiddly bits if any.

Then I group them together into models and play with which arms/weapons go with which torso/legs.

Makes it easy to find everything and even easier to take a group picture if you are missing bits.

Probably just extras.... I had double the amount of trophy racks for my Bane Thralls! Nice little bonus!

Need more 's in my life!

They were individually packaged. I figured out that one of the extras is for a shield banner. The others look kinda like circles in the general shape or a shoulder pad (doughnut-like, they have a hole in the middle)

Is it ok it I avoid using them? I've heard no conversions are allowed in official play and I don't know if this counts...

I don't think the kits usually come with extra bits, beyond the parts for the multi-jack plastic kits. I don't know about the "doughnut-like" pieces, but I bet the banner is supposed to go one the shield of one of the Cinerators to denote that model as the Unit Leader, which is important for making sure the models in the unit are within formation.

Either way, I don't think using any of those bits would count as "conversion", and conversion *is* generally allowed as long as it's clear what the model is supposed to be, which is especially important with Warjack weapons.

I figured it out... The banner ing went on a shield, and the doughnut pieces were part of a shoulder pad

sigh...

conversions are allowed. Lets be clear on this.

otherwise this wouldnt be a thing: http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?192274-HMS-Griffon-Gun-Carraige-to-Airship-Conversion
and bear in mind this is a legal[u] conversion.

the policy is stricter than what you might be used to from GW games, but so long as you mainly use PP bits, the conversion is based upon the original model, and weapon swaps are like-for-like (eg, a sword for a sword), you are good to go. Even if you ignore this, the tournament organiser has the final say in approval (kind of like Galileo saying officially "the earth doesnt orbit the sun", then stepping away and muttering under his breath "but it bloody well does!") and i've never met a TFG TO who would disqualify stuff. general consensus from what i've seen is "so long as a blind monkey can tell what its supposed to be, its fine".

The official conversion policy(which TOs have the right to change) is that a model must be at least 50% the PP original. Basically a converted Cinerator bust be 50% of the original PP Cinerator model.

An addendum to that, is that at any events organized by PP or being filmed by PP, you cannot have anything that obviously represents other IPs. IE: You can't have a Marvel themed Troll army with Captain America's shield all over everything, and no Mulg painted green with "HULK SMASH" on his base. You could however have a troll army just painted green with purple pants.

Great point and a great link.

I'm going to have to tell eBadger his model is getting shared around on other boards. He will probably literally Squee. Speaking of which, the model is even cooler in person. He put in a bunch of little details that are hard to see in the bigger pictures.
