It has been many years since we last asked what other websites people visit for their wargaming fix, and what they like about those other websites. As such, probably time for a refresher

What other websites do you visit for wargaming information (games, painting, modelling, etc)?

Where do you go for your fix other than websites? Clubs, FLGS, local GW, school group?

How often do you share and discuss wargaming stuff outside your circle of wargaming friends (if any)?

Thanks for your input!

I go to a few other sites.

Coolminiornot.com - painted goodness

Museonminies.com - all things WM

Handcannononline.com - Painting, playing, converting tutorials and good articals.

Privateerpressforums.com - painting section only though.

But most of my time is still spent here on Dakka.

I browse the forums of my selected game forums (FoW, Bolt Action, Firestorm armada etc) and here.

But I look at a lot of blogs as my main source of cool stuff.

Thats the cool thing about other companies, you can go to their forums if you only wanna see their stuff for a change.

But here is my main place for news and general info.

LIke Swastakowey, I frequent a couple of game-specific forums since the games in question (All Quiet on the Martian Front & Dystopian Wars) don't have a significant presence here (I realize that Dystopian Wars did at one point but it wasn't that busy).

All of my "gaming affairs" stuff like news and discussion I get right from Dakka. This site's large range of opinions and the fact that it is not moderated in favor of any one game (even through 40k is such a big part of it) it why I enjoy it so much.

-The Miniatures Page http://theminiaturespage.com
-Lead Adventure http://www.lead-adventure.de/index.php
-Chicago Skirmish Wargames Blog and Yahoo group (links in my sig)

Somewhat less often I post/read at

Websites/blogs I vist.
Necromundicon/Iron Hands. http://www.ironhands.com rarely updated, but still a site I visit for inspiration as I have for well over a decade.
Amateur Hour http://mdarrow.blogspot.com A buddy of mine's blog. He doesn't toot his own horn at club, but I like seeing his work and hearing his thoughts online.
I visit alot of other blogs and groups, but usually as a result of links on one of my regularly visited forums.

Except for an occasional convention, outside of club, my main gaming outlet is Chicago Skirmish Wargaming club. We meet every other week in member's homes in Chicago and occasionally a suburban FLGS (Games Plus). Don't really discuss wargaming outside of those guys and the sites above.

I mainly haunt Dakka and Warseer for forums. (I prefer the news on the former, the painting logs on the latter).

Other than that I check Tabletop Gaming News, and a few sites for individual ranges I'm interested in (Freebooter, Soda Pop, PP, Rivet Wars).

I also will check out Rob Hawkin’s blog and James Wappels’ and Meg Maples’ on occasion. (For amazing terrain, painting inspiration and informative articles respectively)

That's pretty much it. Unless I'm looking to buy something. Which is usually from Miniature Market, but occasionally FRP Games, or Noble Knight Games, or somewhere else (Ebay, etc).

The Privateer Press forums and the Under-Empire, and even then, it's not often.

Dakka gets visited more often cause it's not focused on one game so I get news for a variety of them and I try to keep only 3-5 tabs at a time. With Ranger Board, a Transformer board or two, the Halo Mega Bloks fan boards, and a couple other toy and Tokusatsu boards I visit daily, it generally means Dakka wins.

This Is Where the Fish Lives

I post on B&C and CMoN from time to time. I also frequent the FFG board for X-wing and the X-wing reddit, both of which are pretty good.

I'm also active on various modeling forums (some of which have some crossover with wargaming):

Scale Model Addict (pretty cool website, they have subforums for just about every type of modeling, including wargaming, but I mainly hang out in the "Space/Sci-Fi" area)
Keeper of the Force (strictly a Star Wars modeling board)
Starship Modeler (general sci-fi board, I spend my time in the Star Wars subforum)
Britmodeller (just like Scale Model Addict but run by some Brits... really friendly and helpful people)

I also belong to my local chapter of the IPMS and they have a Yahoo Group that I check out sometimes.

I'm pretty open about my hobbies so my friends and family are well aware of the fact that I paint models and little toy soldiers, so I talk about it a lot and never hesitate to share my work with people.

Other websites that I regularly visit include:

Bell of Lost Souls - Primarily for Gamewire. I don't like to be on lots of newsletters, and Gamewire gives me easy access to what the bigger players like FFG, Privaterr Press, and Mantic are up to.

Table Top Fix - One of my favorite websites because it provides very swift, very comprehensive information about new releases in the industry.

Occasionally, as in once in a blue moon, I breeze by Warseer to correct a factual error or misconception that I usually hear about in a DakkaDakka thread.

Apart from that I visit the websites of my favorite manufacturers, such as Red Box Games, Hasslefree Miniatures, Khurasan Miniatures, etc.

My industry-related Google searches often take me by the Lead Adventure forums, which I read for those purposes, but reading more than a couple of forums on a regular basis is very time consuming.

I sometimes visit The Miniatures Page, but the interface is clunky and the topics can be weird.

I also utilize Boardgame Geek extensively when I am looking up info on a particular game, but not much beyond that.

Dakka gets 95% of my time, but I occasionally go on FFG and Mantic. Couple times I went on PP's website. Oh, and I spend a lot of imaginary time on the GW forums. Wait...

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I first registered on Warseer earlier this year, but I migrated here because there's far more activity and diversity. Warseer really isn't for someone who doesn't play GW games. And the admins here don't seem to ban users for BS arbitrary reasons.

Otherwise I browse Warlord Games' forum (not too often though), the Flames of War forum and The Miniature Page, but I'm not a member of either.

And then of course there are the irregular visits on the sites, forums and blogs that Google takes me to, but off the top of my head I can't remember the name of any of them

I don't really bother with any of the news bloggy type things outside of dakka. I figure if they have pertinent 40k related news then it'll get posted here at some point. At which time I'll see it.

Thanks for the responses so far, great to see as there were a few I was unaware of

I want to echo Schmapdi though with tabletop fix at http://ttfix.blogspot.co.uk/ as they do a great job showing all the latest small company releases and stay on top of things to a fantastic degree, so a shout out where it is due and they are the main non-dakka site that I frequent along with the official FoW forums.

WargamerAU is a handy resource for local tournament and club info, but other than that it's turned into a bit of a ghost town in the last couple of years. I still browse, but am far less involved over there than I used to be. (Making the fact that I was called a 'postcount troll' the other day even more amusing...)

I used to frequent Warseer (and Portent before it) and The Waaagh!, and still frequently check The Miniatures Page and Frothers.
