So, I'm really, really confused. They show a pic of a commissar holding a boltpistol and nothing else, but I can't find that model ANYWHERE

Any idea where it is?

I have a Commissar with two X chromosomes. I'm pretty sure that's not legal under the current codex, either.

GW used to make quite a fiar number of commissars, but now that they've got an awkwardly proprtioned plastic one which costs more than the Death Korps of Krieg commissars, they don't need those anymore. I think the Commissar Lord is still available though, and since he is made from the Finest Material to Ever Grace the Good Surface of the Earth, he'd be easy to convert.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Finecast is pretty easy to work with, as long as it's not miscast (which is a common problem unfortunately, although it's much less serious these days than it was a couple years ago).

As for the older Commissar models, you're going to want to look for them on Ebay. I have the commissar you're thinking of, he's such a badass mini!

I've made a few out of the officer models that come (or came) in the tank models. of course, there is the officer in the bane blade model many like to use as well.

I like the Powerfist and book commissar myself. Granted I do not equip him with a powerfist ever, i just think the model is great. Also lady commissar is pretty rad too, as are those Toughest Women in the Galaxy Commissars

You mean the guy pointing a bolt pistol with his right hand and he's got his left hand behind his back?

I love that guy, he's on my painting table at the moment. When the new IG release was coming out (before it was announced but after we got leaked images) I noticed Commissar models disappearing from the GW UK and US stores, so I snapped them all up in case they were disappearing for good... it seems maybe they have?

The old Commissar models were awesome, the one with the powerfist and book, the one charging forward ready to swing his sword and the one with the bolt pistol.

Back when GW understood that a model could be simple but awesome and didn't need to be covered with unnecessary bling like the current plastic Commissar.

Personally I'd forget the GW one and go for this one instead:

One of the things I like about the GW Commissars is the pose. The dude that looks like he's about to execute someone, the dude who is preaching while holding his powerfist in the air, the dude charging forward about to slash with his sword.

Simple but epic poses.

That female commissar just has a really strange pose to my eye, well detailed model and well sculpted, but posed so strangely, what on earth is she doing?

There is another female commissar from Warforge that looks cool, not sure if you can still buy it though.

Most of my favourite models are the ones with simple but awesome poses, and before plastic Commissar, the Commissars mostly had really awesome and imposing poses.

Have them both. Wouldn't recommend them. They're tall and slim and really stand out, as in feel like they don't belong sort-a-way and they're quite ridiculous when you look at their clothing and porno boots. I got instant buyers remorse as soon as I got them in mail and the casting quality is (not much, but enough to notice) lower than what their page gives the impression of.

Indeed. Remember these guys? Perfect balance between bling and awesome poses, as opposed to the new box with guys in so much bling that you literally have a hard time giving them gear and shoulder pads and fit the jump pack on top too, without gak getting in the way.

I would heartily recommend the DKOK Commissars. They're actually a decent price, especially if you're up to cutting some legs off something else to make the tank commander into a third Commissar.

Shame that their rules are a bit naff now compared to Priests, but hey, a nice model to paint is a nice model to paint. All told I've got 5 commissars, and it's rare I put a single one on the table.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

With regard to the plastic Commissar, is it monopose?

Also, does anyone know if you can assemble it without the cap?

(Without it looking like some sort of flat-headed Frankenstein, obviously...)

You can assemple one without a cap, as long you got a spare head from somewhere.

Given most multi-part kits come with several spare heads, that's within the realm of reason that you will have a few.

The cloak bits of the scion command team can also make a fine custom commissar out of anything human. given you find a way to aquire them.

Some of the "special dudes" who serve no purpose have commisars of "could be commisar" models too.

And then there are other companies. I think brother vinni has a few commisar-worthy models...

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

Ah, I was hoping to use the head it comes with - particularly for the Bionic Eye. I was hoping to make something along the lines of this guy (but with a bionic arm too):

I actually think the Company Commander model can be a reasonable Commissar.

Sorry, could you elaborate on this? I'm not sure which 'special dudes' you're referring to.

"Sepcial dude" as in character kits who's rules are long gone and now are just a pile of random unique-looking dudes.

Last chancers, gaunts ghosts, each got commisar looking dudes among them, maybe there are others.

They are more of a vanity buy though, as they are very expensive kits.

Bionic eye is what you desire, try to track down a marine player, they might have a bionic eye head lying around. and they probaly have enough heads that the'll be willing to just gift it.
One of the DA terminator heads is just like that IIRC, one of the sternguard heads is also quite similar.

Using the company commander might be a tad of an issue, as you'll have to work to differ him from the ACTUAL company commander.
Thuogh you can probably afford to buy whole command team kits without being wasteful, all the special weapon bits will go to good use and you basically get a commisar and 4 special weapon dudes (flamer, plasma, melta, grenades?)

Something else that came to me, with some conversion you might be able to make a lot of commisarish dudes of the mordian squad, wont be east to replace the guns though, metal and all.

EDIT: you can make one out of pask too, standing cool listening to an earpiece while not giving a feth, but you'll need to get him some lower legs.
