Hi, I am thinking I will have Blood Angels for my first army but their codex is old. Is it known how soon they are getting a new one because I don't want to buy one if it will be outdated soon.

Realistically no way to tell how long besides probably within a year or two at this rate

But im fairily sure the basics will stay the same such as marines, assault marines, Ball preds and such.

Unless you're playing in an offical GW store, I would say wait for the new codex. In the meantime, if you're part of a club you could always just download the rules and print 'em out.

Some rumours are pegging them for the end of this month. I imagine the realistic timeframe would be from the start of November to January. In the meantime, grab some Assault Marines, they're sure to be the Codex's staple troop.

I'll bet $1 that the new codex is released by mid January at the latest; in the interim their models are pretty cheap due to their lack of competitiveness in the GT meta. They're still tons of fun and are a great army to play, just not really points effective in 7th edition. SO, you could get a BA army or several groups of models pretty cheap right now, and when the new codex drops, even if its not super awesome, you could either keep your minis or likely sell for a profit, as prices tend to increase significantly when a new codex is released.

I would buy: 1x Tac squad magnetize special weapons, 1x assault squad magnetize the jump packs/ special weapons, 1x generic HQ, 1x Librarian in term armor. Then 2 Drop pods, Maybe a apothecary( sang priest)
I would find from a person playing a Blood Angels codex borrow that. Also any one that uses space marines will have one.

This will give you hq options+ special character and 2 troops+ transports. If you feel froggy buy a razorback and 1 drop pod. But this will be a very standard force to get used to the fluff and rules. You will most likely later change the tac squad for devastators or something else later on but if you magnetize the bolters along with the special weapons its a 2 for one there you can just take apart and click on the new arms and packs. The reason for the magnetized jump packs is you can use them as jump fast moving deep striking infantry or put them in transports.

More like that. There is simply no way it would take more than that since there are only two sort codices left and GW is spinning them out every second week now.
