what will be bad about that matchup? the wall of AV13? the markerlights? can you be a bit more specific?

My concerns are as follows:
Not enough units for this point level. Your units die when people shoot at them the trick is to have too many to kill.
Not enough AT for this points level with what 16 Dark Light shots? That's low for 1500 let alone 2k.
Suiciding STW and your best AT unit is a waste a Venom costs 45 points LESS than your Archon and achieves the same result except it also gives them a layer of protection and mobility after the DS and the ability to start on the board against armies heavy on interceptor. Plus an extra 12 poison shots. Or a Raider at 50 points less to maintain the 5 DL shots.
Also with that many troops choices you could easily run double CAD and exchange those inefficient Ravagers for Scourges and/or Razorwings. Getting more AT into the list.

My question then is how do you field your HQ's in 7th edition DE? I was going with a suicide/distraction trueborn unit to fill the mandatory HQ slot, getting another CAD would actually require an extra HQ as well. the issue I see with the Venom to carry the Trueborn is that it can get popped pretty easilly, if its holding a lot of blasterborns it will be a high priority for the opponent and likely the venom wont be able to bring the trueborn within range, especially if you dont start but even if you do it could be hard for them to have a good target in range (12" move plus 18" range isnt bad) but the opponent will likely be able to position himself so that the good targets will have cover, WWP allows much more control to avoid getting shot down before they can do anything and bypassing cover by DS exactly where you need to be. True, Interceptor could screw up that plan but its still a relatively cheap unit and I think that strategically WWP depends less on luck. its a bit more expensive but it brings more darklight and fills the HQ slot. How many MSU would you say you should have in a 2k pts game, this one has 18 units, 19 if the archon would want to seperate from TB. also how much darklight would you recommend for 2kpts game? this one has 18 if considering the void lances, plus a quadd gun.

Good HQ's?
A single Lhamaia.
Uriel.
If you're running an assault element, a succubus with armor of misery and glaive is pretty good.
For warlord, I'd look at Uriel or a Haemonculus attached to the chronos and talos in the Dark Artisan Formation. (majority toughness 7, feel no pain on 4+ re-rolling 1's, and 3+ armor)
Everything else is pretty squishy.

Im pretty sure the retinue will get a FAQ saying you cant use it without an archon. So I prefer avoiding that direction.
Can the succubus take the armor of misery? That would be nice.
I dont have my codex right now.
Problem is these option arent good either for darklight or for MSU saturation.

Yeah Court is the way to go for shooty DE. I would be absolutely shocked if an FAQ came saying no. Partly because 7th Ed is all about freedom so the most likely RaI is that you can take the court. But mainly because it meant they did a proper FAQ! Those things died with 5th

well, the FAQ came out and the court is still an option for your single HQ slots.
so how would we consider the lahmia? in a Venom? starting in reserve? she seems very much on her own with a bullseye on her forehead to my eyes,
giving away your Warlord VP seems too easy, maybe for second FOC but not for warlord.
so question is how do you field your single lahmia HQ slot

Lahmian doesn't have to be your Warlord. Indeed she can't if your army contains another Character.

In your list, if you're opponent doesn't have a lot of ignore cover, I'd pick one of the mandrakes.

ah, thats true. but to fill that mandatory HQ slot for a shooty army, would you see just a single Lahmia on her own? in reserve? in a venom? in a venom with 2-4 Slyths? ( I Like that option). something else?

I'd use single or pairs of Medusa in venoms.
It never hurts to have 2 pairs of S4 AP3 flamers.

Lahmian I woukd take singularly and start in reserve. Other good options are a Medusa or 2 in a transport. Sslyth are great but are more a shooting unit and are expensive.

True the Slyths are more expensive but I've been checking them and they are good for their points, they are quite tough, while still being able to shoot decently (4 in a Venom double the poison shots output) also they are good in close combat, so being as your gonna want to get them close to the enemy to get those shard carbines in range you can also assault out of the venom after shooting to tie up a unit, they are tough enough to take some retaliatory strikes if they cant kill their target but they do attack relatively well so lots of stuff can die to their onslaught. So what Im saying is I like the Slyths in this codex, the massive points decrease (10pts) makes them actually good, would also make a decently tough warlord

I just converted 10 slyths and I cant wait to use them!
as far as the old DE question "how much darklight to take" I really think its over and done with.
im not taking a single dark lance in any of my lists anymore. I can see the argument for dissie ravagers but even before the new codex the dark lance versions sucked. its harder to pop tanks, you only ever hit 2 ish shots. s8 isn't enough to be reliable. youre open topped and you die early.
considering now theyre more expensive AND they cant fire all their guns... theyre just not worth taking.
I also don't like the aegis at all. I think it defeats the purpose of Dark Eldar and I think it makes no sense fluff wise. id drop the ravagers and the defense line and take other units.

Awesome! How did you convert your Slyths? Just from the original model or did you take other stuff?
