Heading to a 2k game tonight. After tonight I'm gonna take a break from Necrons til the new codex.

This was the first 2k list I got table-ready, and I got absolutely smoked. I'm curious to see if I can make this work for me now. I'm gonna try!

That is a very sub-optimal list, but good luck to you.

An optimal list runs . . .

2-3 annihilation barges

2 ghost arks (or swap these out for 2 x 6 wraiths or mini scarab farm)

2-4 night scythes

1-2 catacomb command barges

3+ crypteks of the storm

Youre missing out on obyron man.

Deepstrike the monolith. Teleport Zandrekh + unit to the monolith portal, deepstrike obyron 6" away from zandrekh with no scatter, boom a 14/14/14 tank and 2 squads of warriors in their face.

@Col and Moffel: Yeah, I understand this isn't an optimal list. I was just using this list, because it's the first one I ever played a 2k 40k game with, and that was the last game I'm playing with Necron's until the new codex comes out. I didn't expect to win, especially considering the list is suboptimal and my record against my opponent, but I did! Plus I'd die of boredom if I played my ABs and Night Scythes and Wraiths every game. It's fun to try and win with less. I have al ways thought Monoliths were underrated (not that they're spectacular), and Ghost Arks were overrated in 6th and now 7th.

No one talks about the Triarch Stalker, but once again MVP. Twin linking you're whole army from range just by hitting is priceless, and AV13 is nice.

Triarch stalker are great when you don't have annihilation barges because you are right twin linking your whole army is awesome. However when some of the best weapons necrons have(eh hem telsa) are always twin linked anyway they loose their appeal. We shall see what the next codex brings. Here's to hoping they made the monolith relevant again.

I hate to tell ya this, but Necrons have fallen into the Niche of using a very few specific units to even be remotely good against anything at this point. And I don't blame you for quitting until their next codex, since currently it's actually boring to play as them.

Grats on the win, and I agree. I always bring a Triarch Stalker, and it has contributed to me winning numerous games. It's just too good for focus firing.

That said, I really hate how every list has to use the best stuff in the codex, I dont play like that either. My comment about obyron was just a suggestion as you already had 2 pieces of that combo in your army.
