So I wanted to run a list idea by you guys.

HQ
Pedro Kantor
5x Honour Guard (Champion with Relic Blade, 4x Power Sword, Rhino)

Elites
Contemptor Mortis Dreadnought (CML, KASx2)
10x Sternguard Vets (6x Combi Melta, Drop Pod, Locator Beacon)
5x Assault Terminators (3x THSS, 2x Dual LC)

Troops
5x Scouts (5x Bolters, LSS)
10x Tacticals (Combi-Melta, Melta Bombs, Meltagun, Rhino)
10x Tacticals (Combi-Plasma, Melta Bombs, Plasmagun, Rhino)

Heavy Support
10x Devastators (2x LC, 2x ML, 5x extra Marines)

Total Points 1847/1850

Plan to drop the the Sternguards, then DS the Assault Terminators behind the Drop pod so they don't get eaten up that turn.

There's one problem I notice: You're relying on 1) Having an enemy who struggles to take out your drop pod after it arrives, but 2) having useful targets to hit with an assault unit near that drop pod.

Also, I can already tell you that other people will point out "mixing weapons on devestators is a bad idea!!!" I'm assuming you will combat squad them apart. If so, why not make it 2 devestator squads, for the extra free signum?

Are those 20 tacticals marching up the field, firing bolters? Very fluffy!

Feels to me like 1850 points should involve more units somehow...

Your first point is exactly what I wanted to hear. I might rework the list to have a second Sternguard Squad and take the Assault Terminators out.

As for the Dev Squad, I don't have 4 ML or 4 LC in my possession (YET!). I like ablative wounds (the 5x Space Marines are cannon fodder), it helps keep the squad alive. If I acquire more LCs, I would take the MLs out.

Also, the Tacticals are in rhinos, I apparently forgot to type that!

One thing I do often with my devastators (I play imperial fists) is give them 4 lascannon (I know you don't have that yet) and then take a librarian in terminator armor who sits with him and uses divination for the twin linked prescience shots.

I would consider dropping the terms (not great in this list) and adding in 2 more drop pods (for your tacticals)

I also think you should cut a few dev bodies and with the excess try and get 1-2 stormtalon and/or thunderfire cannons in the list.

How are you able to use Divination? I thought C:SM libbies don't have access to it. I think dropping the body count in the Devs is a good idea too. Probably the Termies too (but I got Forgeworld shoulder pads!). I need to get a few more games in so I can really get a feel for the local meta. Replacing the Termies and Ablative Wound Marines for a couple of Storm Talons is probably a better use of points.

I am sorry. You are right. I was referencing using my dark angel librarian. That was poorly written. I often ally them in for that use. They I add another drop pod marine unit with them.

How is this?

HQ
Pedro Kantor
5x Honour Guard (Champion with Relic Blade, 4x Power Sword, Rhino)

Elites
Contemptor Mortis Dreadnought (CML, KASx2)
10x Sternguard Vets (6x Combi Melta, Drop Pod)

Troops
5x Scouts (5x Bolters, LSS)
10x Tacticals (Combi-Melta, Melta Bombs, Meltagun, Rhino)
10x Tacticals (Combi-Plasma, Melta Bombs, Plasmagun, Rhino)

Fast Attack
Storm Talon (SHML)
Storm Talon (TML)

Heavy Support
5x Devastators (4x LC)

Total Points 1850/1850

I could also do two Land Speeder Typhoons instead of the Storm Talon with TML.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The more I think about it, the more I think I would rather do two Land Speeder Typhoons and one Storm Talon with Skyhammer Missile Launcher. The Contemptor Mortic and Storm Talon would cover anti-air and the Typhoons would be less focused, dealing with more varied targets.

So I have taken another look at this list and have made a few adjustments.

HQ
Pedro Kantor
5x Honour Guard (Champion with Relic Blade, 4x Power Sword, Rhino)

Elites
Contemptor Mortis Dreadnought (CML, KASx2)
10x Sternguard Vets (6x Combi Melta, Drop Pod)

Troops
5x Scouts (5x Bolters, LSS w/HF)
10x Tacticals (Combi-Melta, Meltagun, Rhino)
10x Tacticals (Combi-Plasma, Plasmagun, Rhino)

Fast Attack
Storm Talon (SHML)
Land Speeder Typhoon (HB, TML)
Land Speeder Typhoon (HB, TML)

Heavy Support
5x Devastators (4x LC)

Total Points 1845/1850

I know it is breaking cardinal rule #1 with Devs, but I kinda want to switch them back to being 2xML, 2xLC (the ranges are the same, so it isn't like they would counter each other) and free up a few points. I also am not entirely sure about the Contemptor Mortis Dreadnought. Yes, it is a very cool model and well worth the points, but it needs to trudge up to mid-field to be at maximum effectiveness. I dunno. I think the above list is probably the best way to go as of right now.
