So two friends (Rich and Steve) and myself (Andy) have agreed to start a tale of three gamers. We are aiming to get three 1500pt 40K armies painted by the 11th January for a gaming day. Luckily we had all decided on our armies separately and none of us ended up wanting the same ones.
We have an Ork army, Mono Khorne Daemon army and a Death Guard army. The rough lists are found below.
Orks (Rich)
Warboss
Painboy or Mek
3x 16/17 of boyz with a nob in each
10 nobz with mixed shooting and cc weapons and trukk
10 gretchin and herder
5 burnas (3 are meks)
3 killa kanz
Morkanaught
Death Guard (Me Andy)
Nurgle Lord Nurgle, VOTLW, Bike, Black Mace, Sigil of Corruption.
Plague Marines x 7 2 Plasma guns, Power Fist Champion.
Plague Marines x 7 2 Plasma guns, Power Fist Champion.
Plague Marines x 10 Rhino 2 Melta guns, Power Fist Champion.
Bikers x 6 Nurgle, 2 Melta Guns, VOTLW, Champ Power Weapon.
Obliterator MON, VOTLW.
Obliterator MON, VOTLW.
Maulerfiend
Havocs x 5 Nurgle, 2 Missile Launchers, 2 Autocannons, VOTLW.
Khorne Daemons (Steve)
Thirster, exalted, lesser
Karanak
Herald of Khorne, crusher, lesser x 2, Wrath locus
Tell Steve not to half ass it and actually buy the finecast flesh hounds. I am tired of people not caring about how their models look and then expecting me to.
But if he doesn't care, then why even bother running a mono god list? Just have him throw in the usual plaguebearers, screamers, etc. for another competitive list.
This is my tester ork model. It will be a quite normal army for now. Wanted to go for a yellow and blue colour scheme. There will be elements of space marine armies that have been looted. Mainly Imperial Fists for the colours.
I wanted a mob for the orks. Problem I have had is there are a lot of models I like and things I want. The gorkanaught/morkanaught was a must for me. I really like killer kanz and Im not a massive fan of the mega nobz models.
He doesn't look too bad, but the pants are a bit fleshy and wet-looking. Try adding some lighter, drier colors as highlights. Also, the skin and teeth could use some highlighting as well. This might be useful:

Ok so my Death Guard, I have always loved Nurgle more than any other God. I currently have a Nurgle Daemon army for WHFB so was an easy choice to go Death Guard for 40K.
The list I have gone with uses the models that I both like and fancy converting up. The mainstay of the force is good old Plague Marines, no matter what I wanted to have a few units of these hardened veterans and the heart and soul of any army. With Nurgles sacred number being 7, I decided to go with 2 units of 7 with twin plasma guns for some long range support. Then a unit of 10 with a rhino and 2 melta guns for a mobile counter force capable of dealing with a variety of foes. Supporting this force I went with 2 units of 1 Obliterator, these are great for mobile fire support. Capable of dealing with so many different units and don't die easily either. Then a unit of 5 Havos with 2 Missiles and 2 Autocannons, 2 of each will hopefully allow me to deal with multiple threats. The Maulerfiend is in there as I have an idea for a conversion which I really fancy doing (Should work). Last unit is the 6 Nurgle Bikers, these are there to react to anything I don't expect with their speed or to go objective hunting. Their weapons are based around the fact they will be closing gaps quickly. Then to lead this force I have gone with a Nurgle Lord on Bike, armed with the black mace and the Sigil of corruption.
For the models I have chosen to go with Skaven Plague Marines and a few other bits from other companies. The theme is the regiments have been changed by Nurgle whilst on a mission for the Emperor. So they are all in imperial armour with some already showing signs of rust, decay and transformation.
Now lets get this started.......off to get some glue.

Will be using all GW models except for one of the hound units which will be an alt mini, mainly so it is easier to keep the two units obviously different. Should start getting the models this week so my first WIP's will be over the weekend or next week.

Totally agree about the wet. Needs an antishine glaze over it to take that away. The teeth actually have a yellowish base and highlights but not showing up on the pic
Doing the first mob now. Plan is to get all the troops done and then base in one go. Although that might chanhe if I want a totally finished unit sooner!

A man always has 2 reasons for what he does, the one that sounds good and the real one.
You could put rocks on the base of one unit, paint their collars a little differently, or failing that paint the rims of the bases different shades.

First unit nearly done. Photos not great with the flash on mind. Need to decideeon basing. Tempted to do snow some how as I haven't done it on an army for a while. Any thoughts?
This is how I wanted to base up the army. Have added some snow and ice effect on the bases. Wanted to carry on with the blood too dropping on the snow around them

Stretch rhino...
If your going to steal a rhino for the boyz got to make sure they can all fit in!
Going to make this my trukk for the first unit so can run 17 on foot or.cut to 12 and make them mobile!
Trukk finished. First unit done. Realise whole unit not allowed I the trukk which is a pain but gives.me options and feel atleast made a dent in the core troops
Hey guys, this is pretty cool! Orks are coming along very quickly and nicely. I also like the yellow Khorne paint scheme. Nice to see something different.
Here is my Bloodthirster. The idea in the colour scheme is to get lighter as the models are less significant so the BT will be the darkest, the troops the yellow and the heralds somwhere in between the two.
Awesome! The Bloodletters remind me of the pizza monsters from the old TMNT cartoon.

base colours for the gorkanaught done and oddly the base nearly finished with ice etc as wanted to gauge effect with colours. Have started some of the weathering/ rust on the yellow but can see this taking a while!
