I am trying to remember a book and I just cant remember.

All I remember was it was a story about a squad of space marines. Throughout the story whenever a squad member died they would bring them back to the fortress monastery so they can be put up in a hall of heroes or something. But the specific part is that the person who would receive the body was a blank (pariah) and made the squad leader uncomfortable.

For the life of me I can't remember more than that interaction between the two. Thank you very much!
