Hey guys,

Not sure if anyone has seen this before. But I attended Monte San Savino show last weekend and got to see for the first time some awesome new orc pirates for a range of miniatures called Black Sailors. I also had a chance to talk with some people from behind the scene and I was told they have a Kickstarter coming later this month. Hopefully they will get funded as the miniatures look awesome, although I am curious to see how they do as have no game attached and are outside the normal 28mm scale.
Here are some photos of the miniatures I managed to see:

They are even more stunning live. The more you "zoom in" the more detail you find. They are absolutely stunning

Really looking forward to this, even though it's not my own size of preference, but I will most likely get a handful anyhow just because they look cool and to support the release.

Not my preferred scale either as I am a bigger fan of smaller scales. However after seeing the miniatures I will have to spend some cash on them as they are rather brilliant. The concept art also seems to be getting better with more dynamic poses and more character. Also had a quick chat about prices they seem pretty reasonable with several pledge levels to accommodate single models choices

Sweet, I was wondering how this one was proggressing. I'll be in when it goes live. Don't need them, WANT THEM.

The question however is which one(s):

Captain Monkey-Gun
Crab Leg
Troll Face Chef
Goblin the cabin boy

Have to see what the price point is but it will be a hard choice.

Keep us updated if you can, I do so dislike Facebook.

A little more expensive than I was hoping but not outrageously so, and certainly worth it for the quality of the sculpts.
Shipping appears clear but then turns out not to be. Does every mini require shipping added on seperatly? Do multiple minis all add in to the highest shipping cost? They mention weight but then no price relating to it.

Glad that its shipping from within the EU, I do so hate getting double dipped by the royal mail.

Yeah I think the problem it that with the size of the miniatures there isn't much they can do. They do seem in line with most of the large scale resin minis on the market but I was also expecting a bigger discount compared to retail. At least I am assuming that $60 is going to be full retail as otherwise it is a bit strange that you can pay $55 for one miniature and $110 for 2. I think it would be simpler to put the add-ons at $55 or $60 and just create the pledge levels where you get free stuff.
And I agree with shipping being confused. I actually think they are overcomplicating it which does not help. I would prefer them to provide estimates based on the pledge levels and charge for shipping at the end like most campaigns seem to be doing at the moment

Beautiful models, and full of character but again not in a scale I can really do anything with to justify the price tag. To get maximum "use" and therefore value out of the item it realy needs to be a much smaller scale.

I like to paint almost, if not more, than I like to game so "use" for me would be as a long term project I can use as a palette cleanser between long slogs of painting WW2 minis. Khaki, khaki, green, khaki, dark green, metal, khaki. Gets dull after a while.

Its also a scale I've done little painting on, I did have a few Inquisitor models but that was back before I really locked in my painting skills.

@Pete Melvin,

I have fixed the shipping for you and others, I hope!

Its calculated post campaign, based on the weight of the package. So to get an idea, you total up the weight of all your minis and check the category you fall under.

Update #7

Fourth Stretch Goal unlocked

Fourth SG unlocked!! So for now on, every backer buying Ugg the troll Cook will get this Kickstarter exclusive accessories !

Update #8

Little word of explanation

Good morning people,

For all the people new to Kickstarter, here is a little word of explanation for you.

As long as the campaign will continue, we hope to unlock more and more Stretch Goals. There are 2 kinds of SG :

- the free accessories for the available miniatures. They will come with them when you buy them FOR FREE, and whatever your Pledge Level. For example, if you buy one Guruk and one Ugg, you will get the free accessories for the 2 of them, if the matching Stretch goals are unlocked of course..

- the new miniatures. The first one at the moment is Papa Jambo, and the next 2 are Swift and Sharki. They are not for free, you have to buy them.

Some people asked us how they can buy them. For those not really familiar with Kickstarter, you have several options :

- first you can buy them as ADD ONS at the end of the campaign when you will receive the survey form asking you what miniature you want. When you take a Pledge level with one or more Crew member, you don't have to choose which one immediately, you will be asked about that at the end of the campaign. The only drawback of choosing this option is that the total funding amount do not increase during the campaign but only at the end, meaning we don't unlock more Stretch Goals.

- the other option is simple. If, for example you take the "Big Boys" Pledge level with 2 crew members and Ugg, but you want to add Papa Jambo. You just have to click on the green button on the right of the main page of the campaign "Manage your pledge", and simply increase your pledge amount by the price of the miniature you want to add ( in this case Papa Jambo, so 55$CAD). In this way, the campaign funding amount increase immediately and we keep on unlocking Stretch Goals together !

I hope this helps !

Update #9

Swift Unlocked !!!

Another miniature joins the crew, Swift, the Loot hoarder !

The next one is Sharki !

Update #10

Nov 27 2014

New Stretch Goal ahead and another new Pledge Level !

The Loot Hoarder, Swift just boarded the ship. Now the Skulls Crusher is waiting at the Shark Hunter village. Sharki is there, but on a hunt for the legendary White Terror, the biggest shark of the Storm Coast.

Come help us to find him !

We also add a new Pledge level for the Runners !

2 new Pledge Levels

Hey everyone

Here are 2 new Pledge Levels for you :

- one for 4 miniatures from "The Crew", with a free King Khung included

Of course, you can choose ANY miniatures from The Crew, 4 different, 2 times the same, it's up to you !

Note : I made a mistake this morning, the free monkey comes with 4 miniatures from The Crew, not 3, my apologies, the night has been short.
