I'm a warhammer 40k player and has startted getting into FOW. So I've already picked up Open Fire, as well as a Cromwell company, and worked things out to get some additional Shermans. So currently I have

3 Sherman VC Firefly
4 Cromwell
9 Sherman V

as well as the american paratroopers.

So my question from here goes, What book should I get for late war britsh?

I've heard that I should get some artillery next: But what? How do you even go about list building in FOW?

I like to say I have two armies: Necrons, and Imperium.....

Operation market garden is a great start.
You can ally in your paratroopers.

Not sure about how often sherman Vs can work with cromwells? Haven't studied every list in the book but most lists are "you can take Cromwells OR Shermans Vs, but not both". Though the fireflys can be taken with the cromwells. Agree that Market Garden is the book that seems most suited to what you have atm.

Me thinks you need another firefly, and if you want to take a cromwell list, then more cromwells. Me thinks look into buying: 4 25pdr/sextons (with cmd/staff/op) and/or a typhoon and/or 4 17pdr Achilles M10s. 25pdrs and sextons are good for smoke (which is very handy), have good At, but are let down by their low firepower. Achilles are good tank hunters (good mobility four At15 guns), though glass cannons.

A typhoon is air support, which is always a bit luck dependent/hit or miss. Good against German heavy tanks, but if your opponent is running some rapid fire flak, a bit of a waste of points.

Also try and find some people who play the game at a place a reachable distance from where you live. Once you start playing some games and talking to other players, you'll get a better idea of what you want.

Market garden is a good start for a late war armored company and as said you either want a Cromwell or a Sherman V list you can't mix them. a big piece of advice would be too look through the forum section as there is lots of good advice spread through the topics about what to support your Armour with.

Thank you everyone for your advice. And I've figured out what I want to do now. Market Garden is exactly the book I was looking for.

I think Lorried ifantry as TAnk riders would be the way for him to go using the MG list, that way he can havea platoon of Cromwells and Shermans.

Your right about the Lorried RIfle Company, they can take both armored platoons (Shermans) and Armored Recce Platoons (Cromwells) as "Brigades Support Platoons"

Decide if you want Sherman or cromwells. Personal choice.

Useful generic British units are infantry, universal carriers (recon) 25pdrs (artillery and smoke) after that flavour as you like

Okay: More a continuation of the previous question.

I'm looking to add a unit of Sexton, and it seems that Sextons are sold individually. which is fine. But whats the best kit to purchase for the "rest" of the formation? rifle teams, staff officer, command squad, etc...
