Decided to paint up a complete force to sell, to finance future projects.

Settled on a British armoured squadron as there seemed to be plenty of cheap plastics on ebay from the open fire box set.

Blimey was that ever a mistake, I have never, ever come across a kit as bad as these Shermans, the fit is terrible, like 1970's airfix bad, even the plastic itself is cheap and rubbish.
Just finished the last two and thank god for that!

Working on the 3 attached Stuart Jalopies atm and after that it'll be the Motorised infantry platoon, thankfully all PSC.

Painted up as 3rd RTR 11th armoured division.

Very cool!

I agree those Shermans are a nightmare to assemble, you did a better job than I did filling the gaps though!

Cheers Mate. I had to buy a new packet of Miliput, the existing packet had lasted me nearly two years then I started filling this lot!

I understand they have discontinued these models now? And the new ones are better? Hope so for anybody looking to start up playing with a boxed starter set, it's enough to put anybody off

I stupidly used greenstuff to fill the gaps instead of a sandable putty so mine don't look as good as yours.

They have released new Shermans which look a whole lot better (I don't have them, just going from pictures). They have 1 piece upper hulls.

But as far as I can see they haven't released a new version of Open Fire yet. I assume they will, because the past couple of months they've released both new plastic Shermans and new plastic StuG's. Hopefully this means they'll update the Open Fire set.

I'm surprised they let them out the door with how bad they were, I was going to give them to my friend but I'm glad I didn't, it probably would have put him off playing completely

They look great! I've been working on 3RTR myself, thankfully using PSC tanks so I've had no assembly problems!

Well, you don't stuff facts into the Right Wing Outrage MachineĀ©. My friend, you load it with derp and sensationalism, and then crank that wheel.

What did you use for decals? Are those the Battlefront Flames of War decals?

The Divisional and Squadron Markings as well as the bridge load limits are from PSC, the air recognition stars and war department vehicle numbers are from Dom's Decals.
