GW is scared of girls. Why do you think they have so much trouble sculpting attractive female models? Because girls have cooties and the staff at GW don't like looking at them for too long because it makes them feel funny in their naughty place.

Not crazy. GW made what 1000 or 2000 copies. With a customer base of what 100 000, 200 000 or more world wide, this is not even 1% of their customer base they are selling to.

It's artificial sellout to hype everyone up saying that GW sells out all the time so it makes people have more impulse buys. Seems to be working.

After The Hobbit special edition box set and Dread Fleet GW had to do something. I guess they have succeeded since a lot of people on the internet is complaining about how GW sells out all the time.

So I guess Friday/Saturday is when GW makes the most money now.

I wonder what their customer base is. In this instance too it's more their customer base that actively plays WFB, which I would believe is a fraction of active 40K players

Do they even number these limited editions? There could be 5000 or 500. I don't think they sell as many of these books as some people think, that's why even GW see themselves as a model company.

Yeah, I'm dubious as to the quantity they're selling out so fast.

Granted, in this case, I'm willing to give GW the benefit of the doubt and simply ordered based on current Fantasy sales, and did not expect so many old Fantasy players to come crawling out of the woodwork for such a massive fluff progression.

I think that's spot on. Considering it takes months in advancement to get your books ready to sell (no experience here, I have to trust those who mentioned this fact), GW didn't seem to expect this massive positive reaction to the End Times. It's selling as hot cakes, ffs! They can't even provide a decent amount of books to FLGS.

Given that there are plenty of stories in the News and Rumors thread of people's local stores only getting in 2 books each and the lack of models coming out before this book like the other's I'm assuming there where simply barely any books printed.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Let's do a rough estimate.

GW's annual sales are £120,000,000.

The average cost of a model or book is £30.

They must sell 4,000,000 units a year.

If there are 1,000 different SKUs in the GW catalogue, they sell 4,000 of each of them.

So a "limited edition" could be between 1,000 and 10,000 units. GW has about 400 shops so each one could take two up to 20 of the edition, though actually GW try to sell a lot through the web store.

DakkaDakka has 90,000 users and represents maybe 10% of the actual total number of active players.

You need only about 1% of the world's players to buy a limited edition for it to sell out on launch weekend.

Well, these limited edition items are a joke.
GW Can keep stock holding for those item at a minimum reducing overall costs.
