Does anyone have any suggestions as to how Tyranids can deal with ranged D weapons. Our local club seems to have a number or warhound Titans and even a Reaver and Revenant Titan. Tyranids seem to struggle against super-heavies. The hierophant is fantastic until a warhound turns up which can kill it in one turn despit costing 250pts less.
Any advice out there ?

The Haraidan is pretty nasty against Titan's I am told.

On moon miranda.

To be fair, it's not like the Heirophant is weak in that department either sporting twelve S10 shots, but, that said, D weapon in general are kinda silly.

You can go for a Harridan, flying GC that can't be hit by *most* D weapons as most of them are CC weapons or Blast weapons (and is only hit by most others on 6's), and is still putting out 12 S10 shots.

That said, in any environment with that kind of firepower escalation, I'd probably be looking for different games unless you're talking about Apocalypse games.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Most nids armies I have seen spam FMC and from what I know most D weapons are templates. This makes nids mostly immune to D as long as they don't land.

Flyer spam against D weapons. This is why I don't like 40K sometimes. Now you either accept you are weaker and just keep loosing, or you quit, or you join the nuke race and buy FW as well or more flyer spam to deal with it.

So if not buying FW, then Flyer Spam is the way to go. Skyblight is a good way to go as well since you need 3 flyers and your gargoyles that die get a 50/50 chance to come back.

We got some new formations in Sheild of Baal:Leviathan, so maybe there is new options for you there as well.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Spamming flyers will mean you are safe once they are airborne, however it does mean you cannot capture/contest objectives. Seems to be a losing tactic. Twin-linked devourers or electroshock grubs will only ping an occasional hull point.

That's why you need a Harridan.

I love our fmcs but I think spaming flyers is only fun from time to time. The army has a lot more to offer anyway, but for dealing with D weapons.... Hmm yeah good luck with that, I don't think any army can truly do that, except maybe imperial knights?

If you're going to compete in an arms race amongst titans, you'll need to somewhat tailor your lists to remain competitive. The flyer spam as listed above is one possible way to do it - take as many flyrants with ESGrubs as you can fit, as well as some crones for their haywire and s8 vector strikes. Kill what you can, ignore the rest, and go for points while accepting losses vs the overkill D weapons.

Another option to help soak some D shots is a void shield generator - I made mine out of a forgeworld spore chimney piece. By chaining models backwards as they march forward, you can keep units protected until they are nearly within assault range.

MSU builds are good vs titan-heavy armies. They'll spend their 1250 points of titan to kill a couple 50-100 point units. The rest of your stuff that hasn't died can go to grab objective points or try to take out the non-titan stuff in the enemy list.

Superheavies of your own can help - the Harridan is one of the best counters to titans we have available because it's largely immune to D-weapons with a only a couple exceptions. Once that bird is in the air keep it there and pepper their AV13 with S10 shots.

Another option (that pairs with either MSU or Flyer Spam fairly well) is tyrannocytes filled with zoanthropes. For the price of an imperial knight, you can have 6 s10 ap2 lance shots at BS4 deep strike. A couple units of those will punch holes in the enemy titan, and have a 3+ invulnerable save to withstand the return fire.

You can also ally in some legion of the damned for fairly cheap, and get some deep striking meltaguns that ignore cover.

The options are out there - it's just a matter of whether or not that kind of game is appealing to you. If you're not interested in scaling up your collection just because your game group decided to field a titan every game, maybe you could ask them not to field it so much. If they say "no" then they're probably not playing for fun - they just want to win no matter what.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.
