I bought the EWAR 5 building set a while back and finally got around to painting one up and putting it together.
Overall pretty happy. with how it turned out. Gonna try and paint up the other 4.
Heres the first one done except maybe some pigment weathering and dullcote.

Wow that paint job looks great! What material are those buildings made out of?

thx! they're foamed pvc sheets which to me look like the details are pressed into the them.it gives them a slight textured finish..

since they're in sheets i just used Army Painters colored primers then secret weapon washes then drybrushed and then painted the details for the doors and the trim
but i did all that before assembling.I think thats the way to go for these. i'm mid way thru painting the sheets for the second one..and just changed the wash color and drybrush trim color but the colored primer is the same..i think it gives it a gritter look for a shop cafe style building
Heres a pic with most of the painting done on the walls and roof but before I assemble anything.

thx man!
I've just about finished up with the second building ewar04 a small shop.
still struggling with the roofs might have to try more of a wet drybrush for the original basecoat color after the wash before highlighting to try and even it out

Honestly I think they look better uneven like that. A roof would weather slightly unevenly like that, I think it looks more realistic than if it were all uniform. By "foamed PVC," is it actually foam? Or is it harder like plastic? If it is actually foam, how worried are you about wear and tear on those buildings? They just look so great!

thanks! thats a great point. I hadn't looked at it like that. forest thru the trees and all that.

Foamed PVC is what they call it officially . I think its a slightly spongy plastic sheets with pressed details in the surface. it has some give I could use a fingernail to squish/score it and can flex it slightly without breaking but its firm and fairly strong vs hard foam poster boards which are very rigid and would snap if flexed.

I think the colored primer spray seems to be adhering quite well but I wanna give them a testors dull cote spray to protect the surface. they are quite light and a drop from table height to the floor would probably just break the sharp peaks if unlucky..I think they'll be fine stored in a Rubbermaid bin with light foam sheets(left over from miniature box sets) used to cushion them for travel.I've already applied a brush on gloss coat of varnish on the edges of the roof pieces and walls that will be rubbed against when removing the back roof section to reduce wear.

At the LFGS i would be concerned leaving them as general terrain..simply due to heavy resin terrain thrown in the same box as them would damage them..other light buildings wouldn't tho.

I love the idea of a dense Western European City table for FOW or Battlegroup or even a 15mm Bolt Action game. but could never fathom affording 20 or so resin buildings to fill it..these I think put it in reach, without having to go 100percent Scratch built.

just about finished the 3rd building ..(forgot to do the door highlights). I'm happier with the way this one turned out..using techniques that suit the material better.
I left the windows transparent and sprayed the interior walls.

and heres the 3 completed together so far...next one is the 2 building cafe combo..

Yeah, I really want to buy these buildings in the states, but no one carries them here, and the shipping costs are very high to get them direct.

I live in Canada. Ijust ordered them from http://www.miniaturemarket.com/ssearch?q=ewar
The set is really reasonably priced and shipping in the states is even cheaper than it was to me.

I'm guessing the roofs are not removable to place models inside??

There should be same way to get minaitures inside. The boxes for the EWAR stuff show a floor layout of how FoW bases would fit inside, much like how Battlefront's own terrain does the same.

And thanks for that link @bloodydrake, I didn't realize there was a place that sold it in the states.

yep there is. the floor @ ground level isn't attached so you can just lift the building up to place figures in side on the first floor.
the back of the roofs aren't attached they just sit on top or slide into groove in the chimney stack to hold in place
once removed you can place figures on the second floor and attic

heres pic
edit: to show 15mm figures in buildings

after that I did a dryfit to see how it will look..and it seems like i need to paint the backs of the majority of pieces grey ..so thats up next

shouldn't affect the surfaces I've already painted tho.should be finished in the next day or two.

Can you post scale shots with BF infantry in front of the buildings? Hard to get a sense if these are scaled well.

Sure np here an bunch of pics on my game mat with some WIP roads and tree's I'm working on.
Infantry are PSC on Battlefront bases, The Artillery is BF tho. The IS2 ISU-122 and SU-122 are battlefront, the T-34 is PSC.

As I've said I think they're pretty close to HO scale..I think the infantry appear to be about 5ft tall
but I really don't mind..the buildings are just abit bigger and roomier then the Battlefield in a box one.
