Wolf Guard Bodyguard in Terminator Armor

Hey guys,

Me and my brother in law had a good battle on Saturday, I have been building up a British and German force over the last year and a bit and they have finally got to the size for a 6x4 table.

I am a bit short on the old scenery so its a bit patchy for now.

So onto the game:

It was a 1700pt battle involving the 21st Panzer Grenadier divison trying to break through the British 50th Infantry division in a daring counter attack.

The German force consisted of the following

Grenadier HQ
2x Panzer Grenadier platoons of 3 squads
5x Panzer IV H
2x King Tigers from the 503rd
2x 8.8cm FlaK36

The list was very much rule of cool. I was the german commander and my plan was to use the tigers to eliminate any armour threat and use the 88's to defend from air attacks and to drop shells on the infantry.

The brits had chose the following units.

British infantry HQ with 3 sniper teams
3x Infantry Platoons with 3 squads each
3x Sherman's with Firefly
3x Churchill's (2 VI's and 1 IV)
4x M10SP 17pdr
1x Typhoon Priority air support

Rob's plan was to use weight of numbers to take and hold his objectives with the tanks and air support causing disruption.

The battlefield was set with a small village at one end (which the germans would end up starting) and fields and forrests to the other.

The battle started with the British advancing first, with nothing to do other than try and hug the ground and wait for the inevitable volley of German long range guns

The Germans responded to this by knocking out one Churchill as the infantry moved up to the buildings in the village to hold the objectives.

After loosing a few more churchills the British infantry managed to make it through pretty much unscaved and set on destroying the Grenadiers. Fierce fire fights broke out along the hedge rows and between the buildings. During all this snipers pinned down the 88 crew letting the typhoons shoot up the remaining grenadier platoons.

The Panzer IVs moved in and engaged on the opposite flank managing to bail out one sherman and knock out the other. Sadly due to some pretty poor dice rolls the rest of the platoon was quickly cut down by the remaining firefly lol, those that did not brew up decided to leg it. This opened up the flank for the infantry to flood through and push my grenadiers off.

The M10s attempted to advance but the 88's crew rallied and caused some horrific hits on them, killing two out right, the following turn they managed to bail out the remaining M10s who eventually lost heart and ran away.

The game ended with the German King tigers fighting a loosing battle keeping the infantry at bay and the British swarming the objectives, Robs plan had worked with the pure weight of numbers he managed to breach the german lines, flush out the infantry and nab the objectives.

I knew it was going to be a struggle by putting most of my eggs in very expensive baskets and should have perhaps taken a few HMG platoons an just a couple of Tiger I's but hey ho I had lots of fun and thats the main thing!
