Hello Dakka!

I'm working on a non-standard Eldar list for tournament use, and I'd love to get your thoughts on it!

Here's what I have so far - I am at 1785 points right now:

HQ:
Spiritseer
Farseer with Spear
Elites:
Fire Dragons (5) (these will start in the Falcon)
Troops:
Rangers (5)
Rangers (5)
Windrider Jetbike Squadron (3)
Wraithguard (5) with Wave Serpent (Shuriken cannon, Twin-linked scatter lasers)
Wraithguard (5) with Wave Serpent (Shuriken cannon, Twin-linked scatter lasers)
Fast Attack:
Swooping Hawks (8)
Heavy Support:
Dark Reapers (7) with Starshot Missiles
Falcon with Brightlance, Shuriken cannon
War Walker Squadron (3), each with two Brightlances

I have 65 points remaining -- I could put Holo Fields on all three grav tanks, and then Ghostwalk Matrix on two of them, and call it a day. Other options I have available (painted and ready to go) include:

1 more fire dragon, and a fire dragon exarch with a firepike
5 Dire Avengers
10 Storm Guardians, with two power swords and/or two fusion guns
8 howling banshees
10 striking scorpions including an exarch with Scorpion's Claw
A Warlock on foot
2 Wraithknights with sword and shield
3 Wraithlords -- one with single starcannon, one with single missile launcher, one with brightlance and missile launcher
Baharroth
Autarch with Power Sword
Jain Zar
Maugan Ra

What do you think?

Thanks very much in advance,

V

Looks fine.
If its a tourney where people are playing top lists you will be in trouble, but most don't so you should do well.

Okay I don't really play tournament games but I'll try and give you advice based on what I have found effective and not...

Firstly, I think Rangers are a no go for tournament games, they are easy to squash with the amount of ignore cover that is out there and will more often than not give your opponent first blood. And even if they don't they will probably barely scratch anything.
I used to use them back in fifth and they were great. They became less reliable in sixth and now they are even worse. I would recommend against them.

Also the fire dragons seem out of place considering you fill their role with the wraithguard and the war walkers... Which also will remove the need of the falcon because I've heard that they aren't very competitive, but I've never used one personally...

You don't seem to have much that can actually hit infantry... And you also have nothing that wont struggle in close combat. Maybe try and slip a wraithknight in there to draw some fire away from the smaller targets and give him/her scatter lasers to help deal with infantry. Or even give him/her brightlances and then give the war walkers scatter lasers.

Other than that it seems fairly solid, maybe a few more jetbikes wouldn't go amiss but other than that it looks pretty stable. I like dark reapers so go ahead with them, guided by the seer for even more of an impact.
No comment on the hawks as I haven't used them...
But yeah, It doesn't seem like a bad list

Thanks, gents! I'm certain that I will be seeing some extremely strong lists.

Agreed on the rangers -- they're clearly the weakest unit in the list.

While I have had excellent success with the Falcon (it's still better than many heavy support units from other books, just not up to War Walker/Wraithknight levels) and the fire dragons, it's an awkward combination as one wants to be close and one wants to be far away.

If I take those units out and put in a ghostglaive/scattershield wraithknight, that puts me at 1660.

Perhaps I will need to go to adding an Imperial Knight Errant, or introducing Space Marine allies in order to ramp up the competitiveness.

If you had an ADL I would be hard pressed not to say use it with a lascannon and stick a reaper exarch with fast shot behind it, because nothing neutralizes aircraft like two icarus shots that hit on 2+ ignore jink before they can even shoot lol
