I'm building some immortals and I Have the choice between Tesla carbines and a gaus blaster. But I can't think of which would be more beneficial overall.
So I figured a few necrons players here could give me some input.

Depends. If you are facing alot of Armor Save 4+ or worse, and vehicle-heavy armies, the Gauss is superior.

If you are facing alot of high model-count, low-vehicle armies, or alot of Armor Save 3+ or better, Tesla.

My 2 cents. One of the rumors floating around is that the new codex may change the Tesla rules...no idea if its a good or bad rumor, but I've seen it.

Basically. Tesla for anti-hoard, Gauss for anti-tank/heavy infantry (up to 4+ save - power/terminator armour is super-heavy infantry)

Also changes the roles, especially if you use appropriate Lord and Cryptek support.

Due to the differences between rapid fire and assault with tesla, Immortals want to close more. further, with Gauss they can shoot vehicles where they need to.

Immortals are the best unit in the codex to stick a Phaeron into, if that's your playstyle. Charging with Necrons might not be a good idea normally, but it can certainly work after a rapid fire volley of S5 followed by spearheading with an assault Overlord.

Meanwhile a Stormtek is a great character to stick into Tesla Immortals. Already they have nasty overwatch, and he'll make a big deterrent/trap for anyone trying a charge whilst also adding a Haywire stick to make up for the lack of Gauss.

Personally, I run a unit of each.

Heh. One of my preferred armies is;

Anrakyr + 10 Gauss Immortals with DespiTek + Rez Lord

Zahndrek + 10 Gauss Eternals with DespiTek + Rez Lord

I used to support them with Obyron in a unit of Spyders, but he can't join them any more. :( No more teleporting Spyders for me.

Still, the Immortal/Eternal squads have Deep Strike, Counter-Attack and Furious Charge. No Phaeron, but they tend to take charges rather than make them because of teleporting around.

I wouldn't try to commit too much to anything because the cron codex is supposedly getting updated in a month and all of this might change.

This is just basic troops. There'll still be near identical gauss and tesla immortals after the swapover.
