I started my warhammer career with Space Marines, got Eldar and currently have my Guard army. My best friend is finally getting into the game (Playing Grey knights) so I wanted to make an army I can tag team with his as well as something I'd enjoy playing. I love my imperial guard, my Eldar were alright and Space marines were just jacks of all trade with no skills. I've been looking at Tau, Space Wolves, and Imperial Knights, but I was wondering your best opinion on what to get next.

I wouldn't do SW, as you already have a space marine army. Honestly from those, I'd pick tau.

Well, what do you want? Why are you thinking about the armies you are, and why do you like guard more than eldar?

As best I can tell, you want an army with specialist troops, the most obvious answer to which is eldar. Perhaps if you gave us a bit more to work with, we could come up with better suggestions?

Knights are easy as you only need two or three $200 models. Other than that, I would say Tau, as Space Wolves are too similar to SM.

As a SW player, I would suggest Tau. IT seems they are just not only better to paint as an ally force, but you can easily paint them to match his color scheme.

4k Bren Wulfsun's renegade Space Wolfs.

I want an army that specializes in one aspect, not a Jack of trades. I sold my space marine and eldar so I only have my guard now. I've thought about wolves and tau but I also plan I. Tagging this army with best friend who is going to stay up grey knights. I wanted something I never tried before and was going so far as to think of even Imperial Knights. Dark Angels were always nice to see, but I just don't know where to look for the next army :/

So if Tau, what would you guys recommend being my first purchase? I have the codex from an online pdf and I've confirmed it to be accurate. Riptide is something I greatly

I'd go for Inquisition and Imperial Knights.
