Since the Klingon invasion began Cardassian losses have continued to mount under the leadership of the Detopa council. Without the approval of the council, Gul Dukat has decided to meet with Guls from other orders to discuss a counter offensive to the Klingons. The meeting has pulled a large number of Cardassian ships to the Omekla system. Klingon intelligence has gotten word of the meeting and that several promonint Guls will be in attendance. Gowron has decided that this is a perfect opportunity to cripple the Cadassian military and open the door for more territorial gains. The chancellor will personally command the Klingon fleet.

OK, there is the narrative. This will be a 400 point class of Klingons vs Cardassians. Both fleets will be able to use the Elite Attack Die (EAD) and the Elite Defense Die (EDD).

Set up

Turn 1
Both fleets begin to advance.

Turn 2

First casualties come in. The Cadassians loose Gul Evek on the Kraxon and a generic Galor class. Gul Dukat’s BoP also takes damage from the EDD. The Klingons loose Kerla and Kronos One along with Krell’s K’Tinga.

Tokens and Cards

Turn 3

Heavy losses for the Cardassians, Gul Denar’s Keldon, a generic Keldon, a Galor and a squad of Hidekies are lost. In return the Klingons loose the Gowron on the Neg’Var.

Turn 4

Cardassians loose another Galor and a second squad of Hidekies. The Klingons loose Korok’s BoP and a generic BoP.

Turn 5
It looks as though the Klingons are starting to outnumber the Cardassians.

The Cardassians correct the odds by eliminating 2 BoP on the left flank.

Turn 6

Dukat fails to destroy the K’Tinga in front of him and looses another hull point to the EDD. The surviving K’Tinga deals the final damage to Dukat and he is lost. Nu’Daq is destroyed when he is caught out of position by a Galor and Hidekies on the left flank. The Cardassians on the right flank temporarily confuse the BoP with their sweeping banks.

Turn 7

K’Nera and the B’Moth are lost attacking the Hidekies, thanks to the EDD. The Hidekies also finish off a crippled generic K’Tinga with their regular attack. The Somraw Commander, on the last surviving K’Tinga, takes out the Hidekies. A BoP on the right flank catches Demar and destroys the Koranok.

Turn 8
The Klingons have suffered heavy losses, but still outnumber the Cardassians by a ship.

The Somraw Commander gets a lucky double hit with the EAD and destroys a Galor class attempting to cross the center line. A generic BoP is destroyed by the EDD on the right flank.

Turn 9
The odds are getting pretty slim for the Cardassians at this point.

Two BoP catch the last generic Galor in a cross fire and it is destroyed. Garek and the Prakesh are all that is remains of the Cardassian fleet and is allowed to escape.

We decided to call it here, the wife wanted the table back for wrapping Christmas presents

Victory for the Empire!

Gowron’s advisors inform him that the victory has been costly in both troops and ships. The Chancellor dismisses them, claiming that the losses are worth bringing Cardassia to it’s knees.

Gul Dukat was able to restore power to his ship and activate his cloak. The weapon system are badly damaged, escape is his only option. Dukat now realizes that Cardassia can no longer stand alone against the Klingons. He will need allies, powerful allies, to avenge the fallen and restore Cardassia to its former glory…

Thanks for reading.

Great batrep.

Ships really do drop like flies at these high point games! Hidikis seemed to earn the man of the match for the cardies though.

it does seem like some turns are blood baths when you see all of those damage cards out there at once. The Hidekies did prove problematic at times. I could easily take them out by focus firing on them as happened on the right side, but if left alone too long they could tear things up in the end game as on the left side.

Personally I think the man of the match was the EDD, once ships started taking damage that thing really hurt. I think I lost 3 or 4 ships to that thing in the last few turn. It was responsible for 2 of the hits I got on Dukat. I also had a lot of fun with rear firing torpedoes

I love big games, they seem to mitigate a lot of the crazy stuff that put people off in OPs.
