That scheme is really nice for your survivor, the camo looks good and the shades are really slick, simple but undeniably effective.

Thanks, I wish I could say the same about the Nisses I just painted.

Obviously, this is the Operation Icestorm Nisses. This is the first figure I've done from the set. I had a few issues with getting his right arm to mount. For some reason, I just didn't seem to want to attach properly and I had to do some filling with green stuff. That odd gap you can see above the crook of his right arm isn't actually a gap. The photo makes it look like one, but it's really just part of his jacket overlapping part of his shoulder. I know this doesn't look all that good, but it looks much better in person. Plus, stuff that I'm planning to dip using the black dip tends not to look all that good beforehand anyway. He'll look much better when he's been dipped, I'm sure (I hope). I wasn't pleased with how any of the other PanO I painted looked prior to dipping, but they proved to look great once the rpocess was finished. I hope that'll be the case here since like the Fusilier trio I did before, this guy's going to my cousin when he's finished.

I also painted up one of Reaper's Bone Fiends. I've wanted one of these things since I first saw it.

Quite possibly the easiest paintjob I've ever done. There really isn't a whole lot of variety in color you can do with a pile of animated bones. Someday I'll have to get the similar looking one that Privateer Press makes for Hordes. And the zombie version of this thing, Glom.

My biggest complaint about the Bone Fiend though has got to be its size. It isn't anywhere near as big as it probably ought to be.

I want the thing to tower over the other figures. It should be a monster to be feared. Something adventurers should be running away from. Instead, its small stature makes it look like something that could be easily defeated by a sufficiently large rock. Oh well, it's not the only monster I've been working on.

He's got a lot of light colors. They lend themselves well to the Tudor. I've put models I thought looked much worse into the Tudor and it hasn't let me down yet

Bone fiend is cool. I was going to build and entire tombkings bone giant on a similar concept but maybe splicing in horse skeletons too, never happened, but this makes me think it could have worked out.

Bone fiend is still tall enough to intimidate lower level adventurers I feel.

There's actually quite a few non-human skeletons in that Bone Fiend. There's definitely some kind of bull or goat thing and a bunch of dogs and rat skeletons in there.

I slapped this guy together last night. This is a Krieghexe from Blackball Games' AEWWII line. I figured my Weird War Germans needed some occult support. This will be the guy calling the various monsters.

Tomorrow, after I get paid I'm going to see about getting some more Weird War Germans out of Eureka Miniatures. I found out they've got a line of Germans riding dinosaurs.

Looks sufficiently odd, and has the right german army colors

What are those two corn cobs on the sides of his cone hat supposed to be? Receivers? Horns?

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

The guy's gotta put his lunch somewhere, right?

I may go back over his horns though to better define them.

Ahh now I see those other skeletons, I had to squint but they're in there.

The Nisse right arm fits 'perfectly', but it's a pain to find the spot because of how it has to tuck around the lapel of his coat thing.
It looks like you found the other spot that feels nearly right but has a gap at the front.
It's isn't noticeable even now, so it worked out!

I know I'd gotten it to fit before I started painting, but the thing just would not sit right for some reason. The only reason the gap isn't noticeable now is because I filled it with green stuff.

Well, this post is a milestone. This is my 2000th post! And it proves that I spend way too much time on here.

For my 2000th post, I feel like I ought to be posting something huge and awesome, like a fully painted Space Marine army or something. I haven't got that though. Instead, I'll share with you all a German vampire I painted!

This guy'll be hanging out with my Weird War Germans, obviously. He's from West Wind's Secrets of the Third Reich line. I guess he was supposed to be some special edition figure or something, but FRP Games had him for all of $1. How could I resist adding him to my forces?

The Krieghexe kind of throws things off, but I think he'll look good acting as an officer for my troops.

I like that he has Hitler hair. The mouth and fangs are also well developed.

That looks to be a freaky army with which to do battle.

It's about to get a bit crazier. Last night I just made an order for something a little wacky for the army.

I also painted up the first of my cousin's Fusiliers from Operation Icestorm. I really like these new Fusilier figures. When I get the opportunity, I'm going to have to get the new PanO starter so I can get a few for myself.

You can see a bit of the sizing difference here between the new and the old PanO.

The old one's got kind of a melon head, but is shorter overall. I'd be curious to see how the better proportioned LGL and sniper Fusiliers fit in with the new guys.

Thanks, I hope the Tudor doesn't dull the brightness of their armor too much. I didn't like the brighter blues from the new official scheme at first, but now that I've tried to match the studio colors, they've grown on me a lot. I really dig the new look for PanO, too. I can't wait to see how they update the Bagh Mari.

Tonight, I managed to complete the ORC Trooper.

That's three down, four to go.

Lovely looking PanO stuff. Ugh that old fusilier model though lol compared to the fantastic new ones.

You can look at Lt Rao to see how the new bagh-mari will look as well since he's basically one. He's pretty cool imo.

No PanO update today. Instead, I bring you a Haqqislam update!

First Ragik is done. I've actually done a little bit more work since taking the picture. I was going to leave both feet attached to his slot, but it left him leaning way back and was throwing the weight off, so I clipped the back foot from the slot and bent him forward a bit and addid a bit more green to his chest. I'm still working on his HMG buddy and hoping to pick up the hacker unit eventually.

To be honest, I'm not sure if that's even a guy. The sculpter really accentuated the butt and curvyness the way they tend to do with female figures, but the upper body is really bulky and has some rather beefy arms. The posing is a bit odd, but that's true for all of the Ragiks. Even the kneeling guys' poses are slightly odd. Bending the figure did help a bit though. At least now he doesn't look like he's falling over.

Picked up the now out-of-production AP Rifle Janissary from Haqqislam. Personally, I much prefer this design for them over the Ahl Fassed looking ones they're using now.

I tried to match the colors to as best I could to the studio colors this time around. I'd used desert yellow on my HMG one. I think I actually prefer the studio colors to the ones I'd used before.

Lookin good. I think I like the other color scheme just a bit more, but they're pretty close really. Easier for me to take the darker colors more seriously.

Will you be looking to get the new one we just saw pictures for in the N&R thread?

Yep. I'll use the new guy as an Ahl Fassed. If their profile doesn't get axed, I'll probably be using the HMG Fassed more than the Janissary one anyway.

Looks great! Looking at the side-by-side shot of what I assume is pre/post wash/dip, that should turn out really nice.

Two more of my cousin's figures to go! Tonight I just completed the other two Fusiliers from Operation Icestorm. Hopefully I can get the other two done before the weekend, but I haven't got my hopes very high that that'll happen. The Akali and the Father Knight look to be the two most obnoxious figures in the PanO box.

Here's the bearded, shooty Fusilier. I should probably paint his scope.

And of course, the much maligned Fusilier Girl.

Seriously, she looks like she's posing for a recruitment ad or something. Did the Nomad strike team interrupt a photoshoot at Mototronica or something? This figure also gave me some trouble because her right leg didn't want to go together correctly. I wound up having to seriously shave down the post to get the legs to actually fit together and then I had to greenstuff up the huge gap that was still left over.

"Dammit, there's no more copies left with the CSU! You should've preordered!"

And here's the other Ragik from the two-pack. This is the soon-to-be useless HMG model.

You know, it's kind of hard to photograph a guy that's kneeling and carrying a gun in front of his body that's as big as he is.

Lastly, I got these two GW metals ready for their trip to the dip.

I've found that I rather like the old metals from GW. Their IG figures tended to have much sharper features than the plastics and a lot more personality. That melta gunner looks much cooler than the current plastic one. I just wish he had his shades down.

I've got some other random junk I've picked up being worked on. I don't want to reveal them just yet. I also got the missing HMG for my Tiger Soldiers. And then I lost it. I'm so pissed off about that. I had it on the weekend. I put it with my stuff, now I have no clue where it went. I've looked all over the apartment, including the trash and I can't find the damn thing. It looks like I may wind up having to mod the guy into carrying a combi rifle after all since I have no clue what happened to his correct weapon.

That really sucks about losing your replacement part :(

GW figs look solid, I always liked how much more effort guardsmen have to put into carrying around weapons space marines like to hold in one hand.

Haqq drop dude looks good, and I like your fusileers. I don't mind the posing/ragefist lady, maybe she just made a shot and she's going "YES!"

Looking good!

One thing that helps the femal Fusilier fit in a little more is if you paint the 'skin' areas under the armour as cloth, so it looks like she's wearing proper gear rather than forgetting to put a shirt on under her body armour. After that, as GD says, it's easy enough to picture it as a celebration of a kill shot rather than a photoshoot pose.

Out of interest, what do you mean about the Father Knight and Akal being 'obnoxious'?

Nice work! I had the same problem with the fusilier's leg. Had to chop the whole nub off.

On the bright side about the HMG, I heard the tiger soldier HMG profile is being replaced with a spitfire. So if you can mod him with that instead it all works out.

With that powerpack the Melta Gunner has, you'd think he'd have a more powerful weapon than a Space Marine's meltagun, too.

Paradigm wrote:Out of interest, what do you mean about the Father Knight and Akal being 'obnoxious'?

They look like they've got more parts than the others and their poses look like they'll make painting a fair bit more difficult. The Akali's backpack looks like it's going to annoy me with those fin/booster things.

ckig wrote:On the bright side about the HMG, I heard the tiger soldier HMG profile is being replaced with a spitfire. So if you can mod him with that instead it all works out.

Well, now that the HMG is missing, I guess I'll just have to take CB's challenge of modding the guy. Of course, once I mod him, you know that HMG is going to turn up.
