Interesting times! 2015s league season will be called path of devastation, and will include the option for each faction to field a customisable character that gains xp in battles, which can then be spent to upgrade/change them further. These will change as the league progresses.

Call me interested. Though I see the 'no kustom kharacters' as a feature, not a bug, I think this is an interesting step to take, and definitely brings something to the table that people have been asking for for a long time. Apparently full rules will be out mid February.

Hero Models for Path of Devastation: Riven Bonds
· Cygnar – Gun Mage Captain Adept
· Protectorate – Paladin of the Order of the Wall
· Khador – Manhunter
· Cryx – Skarlock
· Retribution – Mage Hunter Assassin
· Convergence – Steelsoul Protector
· Mercenaries – Ogrun Bokur*
· Trollbloods – Fell Caller
· Circle – Blackclad Wayfayer
· Skorne – Ancestral Guardian
· Legion – Forsaken
· Minions – Croak Hunter*

Considering Warmahordes was originally a rpg, this looks like a good return to roots. Be interesting to see how the league pans out.

Infinity does something pretty similar to this with their "Spec ops" miniatures (they start generic and you can give them equipment or abilities with experience points gained across a campaign). It worked fine for them, hope that Warmachine can pull it off as well.

I really like this idea, I would love to incorporate some of the story building that games like 40k allows into a charcter in my army. I will pick up a Paladin for my Menoth army for sure.

It's funny - reading through the new n3 infinity rules, I see corvus belli giving quite a few 'nods' towards how pp in how they do things. Interesting to see pp following cb's lead in places too

I like the idea, but i really think a skarlock doesn't fit with that list of solos. A Warwitch siren would be better.

I'm loving this idea for the new league. Maybe we'll even get an official new character solo for each faction out of it too.

I was hoping that too, but a few of the characters you get to pick from already have character versions (Yuri the Axe is a Manhunter). But would we get two of some of them?

Nothing says you can't have multiple characters solos of the same generic solo.

Just meant that we haven't seen it yet, I figured they'd make solos of other units. Like a solo Assault Kommando.

Maybe, but PP has repeatedly shown that parity isn't really a consideration for how they release new rules. Certainly within factions at the very least.

I think the lack of faction parity is a good thing. It helps highlight the different things the factions do.

And i think when they try and add things just to have parity you end up with stuff like black ogruns; not a terrible unit, but very little in faction support and seldom used.

Oh, interesting. I do hope the rules will be more polished than Infinity's Spec Ops.

All in all pretty cool. Nice to see them spice up leagues and such with something as bold as customization (which, believe you me... i can only imagine the design headaches that went into this).

Anywho - cool + listening to fans + innovative = awesome.

I'm already thinking of ways to convert up a Steel Soul Protector and I already bought a Manhunter (varient) for my Khador army. This gunna be good.
