I have decided that I will take a leap of faith and sculpt a Parasite of Mortrex. I have the wire frame done, and soon I'll bulk it up a little with some aluminum foil. After the armature is done, I'll use some Sculpey clay to make the details. I hope I can do this project. I am open advice, since I've never done this before.

Progress report on my parasite. I've started putting the clay on the armature. I have some rough details around the bottom half of it. I'd like some advice for basing it. Should I create the base with the model or should I create a temporary support and create the base later?
