Firstly a general question :

Do you watch (m)any of the Youtube videos they produce ?

Secondly ...

when did they change the name of their channel to "Warhammer TV" ... wasn't called that before right ?

https://www.youtube.com/user/GamesWorkshopWNT

Their Google+ profile says switched to this new profile pic a little after 12;30 today

.. is this symptomatic of further or ongoing rebranding ?

It's a different font/logo than the ones they are/were trialling at 3 or so stores in the UK.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

I'm just trying to get my head round it. They closed their own forums and their facebook page because of the comments, so now they're on youtube?!

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

Yeah.

I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

One million times this. The first 30 comments will all be moaning about prices, the next 30 people defending GW,1 after that will be a racial slur against someone in one of the two previous groups, 200 after that will be an arguement caused by that slur devolving furthe rinto insults and pettyness, and then everying after that will be people trying to promote their own channels and a bunch of indecipharble leet speak.

Edit: Comments disabled. Fair enough, I dont blame them for reasons given above. What a hell hole the youtube comments section is.

I actually found their morkanaut painting how-to guide very helpful.

Weren't some of the stores renamed "Warhammer" too?

Maybe the new WFB will be 40k-compatible and it will all just amalgamate into "Warhammer", and GW will change it's company name to "Warhammer" in a vain attempt to dodge brand-hate...

The name is definitely new, however I believe they installed their own TV studio at GW HQ a little while ago and this was affectionately known as Warhammer TV so guess makes sense.

I actually think their videos are very good, I watch all of the painting ones and FW ones and the quality and content are normally pretty good.

It's also nice to see the Duncan Rhodes painting videos aren't as dumbed down as White Dwarf's Paint Splatter.

However i have loads of fun playing "Duncan Rhodes Bingo" and am thinking of introducing a drinking shots version.

Having said that, as nice as GW's videos are considering they have a larger budget than most they aren't the best videos on YouTube.

I really enjoy StrikingScorpion82 battle reports and Mini Wargaming videos and would say they are of equal quality to be honest.

This is probably all new to GW though so hopefully they'll get more experienced and offer more content.

Personally i would like to see an unboxing video for all new kits and I would love to see some battle reports seeing as how we no longer get them in WD.

I would love to have been privy to the meetings about GW's brand.

"Games Workshop is dead. Your brand is so toxic that you might as well call yourselves Bubonic Ebola Seal Clubbing Plague Rats for Cancer. If your brand was a person I'd take it out back and shoot it in the face. It would be an act of mercy. The only thing you can do now is thank whatever dark gods you idiots pray to that most people in the world who don't know the difference between World of Warcraft and True Blood haven't figured out that you are the gackholes that sell that Warhammer thing third cousin Mordekai is always talking about. So at least we have something to work with."

Yeah they disabled comments and everything, but overall I actually really like their YouTube channel. They've got great painting guides with tips and color schemes. And I'm a sucker for all the release teasers that they make, even though I may never buy the product.

Are there any tactics or modeling scenery etc type vids?

The last and only time that I have looked at their YouTube channel was to mock the trailer for Dread Fleet.

And it was prime mocking material, let me tell you.

Worse in this case, as there is no other avenue at all for customer feedback, leading to this acting as a vent for all of the anger, ill-will and other bad-natured comments that would usually be spread across multiple social media. Like the squeezing of a pus-filled zit

Well it seems like a positive improvement, so good on them. We will see if this program is maintained, they have shuttered numerous customer-outreach programs that were quite stellar (Black Gobbo being my favorite).

If they did accidentally enable comments, even for 5 minutes, there might just be enough attacking GW, defending GW and cant-we-all-get-along-ing regards GW to fill up the internet entirely. Which in turn would free us all up to actually get some painting done

Naw it's YouTube. I have yet to ever see any intelligent comments made there. Somebody will open up with an irrelevant homophobic or racial slur, someone else will make an unrelated, incoherent comment using "there" instead of "their," and within four posts somebody will be comparing Obama to Hitler.

YouTube should disable YouTube comments.

I like the painting tutorials that they do. I really wish they'd put out more videos with the designers talking about the miniatures, even forge world has stopped doing that recently.

As for the change it must have been with the Harlequin stuff.

Some of the stores in the UK? i think got renamed.

It might be a future "rebranding" thing. People who know nothing about the hobby see "Games Workshop" on the storefront and walk in looking for video games. It happens several times a week.

Our local GW store is in a mall plaza..across the street is another mall plaza that has a video game repair store, and if you go a block further west, you find a Gamers (video game store, like a smaller less corporate Gamestop).

What's really sad are the ones that walk in and make it to the register with a broken xbox/playstation/whatever "can you fix my console?" before they realize they're completely in the wrong type of store.

Accidental walk-ins is a lot better than no walk-ins though. Sure they probably won't buy anything *this time* but they might say to someone that there's some cool mini's store in the mall, and that person might buy something later.
