Hey Everyone,

I recently got offered this army in a trade online. I'm NOT familiar with Cryx or Warmahordes, so I was hoping someone could help me get a fair estimate on the value of this army. He told me it was worth roughly $1k retail, but he's willing to trade it for 500 or so of my MTG cards. I think that's a pretty good deal, but I'll probably sell it or trade it for an equal value in Trollbloods.

Can also include photos if needed.

- Asphyxious, the Hellbringer (w/ Vociferon) 32
- Lich Lord Terminus 35
- Iron Lich Asphyxious 17
- Skarre, Queen of the Broken Coast 17
- Warwitch Deneghra 14
- Cylena Raefyll & Nyss Hunters (Max)
- Bane Lord Tartarus 17
- Skarlock Thrall 10
- Satyxis Raiders (Max) 60
- Satyxis Raider Sea Witch 10
- Satyxis Blood Witches 50
- Satyxis Blood Hag 10
- Necrosurgeon & Stitch Thralls x2 (Max) 14
- Scrap Thrall x3 33
- Mechanithralls (22 models total; 2 max units + 2 for the surgeons, or 3 min units + 7 for the surgeons) 45 each? 90?
- Pistol Wraith x2 16
- Warwitch Siren x2 25
- The Withershadow Combine 25
- Seether 30
- Slayer 35
- Deathripper x2 40
- Defiler 20
- Satyxis Raider Captain 10
- Deathjack 50
- Bile Thralls (Min) 50
- Sturgis the Corrupted (with commemorative coin)
- Helljack Kit

It looks like a lot, and comes with a carrying case, so I'm guessing I could get $400-$500 if I sell it?

Not sure how valuable your MTG cards are, but $1000 value for that army seems about right.

Only things that seem missing is Bane Thralls and Bane Knights. Its odd that he'd have Tartersauce(Bane Lord Tartarus) and no Banes to go with him.

That is a very solid Cryx collection all around, except for the fact it needs MOAR BANZ.

Thank you GrumpyCat!

I Looked up most of the prices. I'm can't find Sturgis, Helljack Kit and the Cylena + nyss Hunters on Privateer Press site. Can anyone help me with prices on those?
Also, what is he referring to with the (min), (max)?
What is the deal with the Merchant-thralls + Surgeons, not sure if my pricing on those is accurate.

So far, I've got 770

Sturgis was a kick starter exclusive. About $20 worth. Not sure what his regular sculpt is worth.

The Nyss are a mercenary unit so they're in that section.

For the price of the Helljack look for one of the jacks that is in the kit. It makes 3 different models so its price is under their gallery entry.

Larger units usually come in two sizes, and point costs. A minimum unit and a maximum unit. A min unit of Mech Thralls is 6 models and a max is 10 iirc.

As for the necro surgeons, he has extra mech thralls because Necrosurgeons gather the corpses of the dead in a certain radius and can turn them into new thralls. Kill the enemy or recycle your own dead thralls.

Personally, I'd take this deal in a heartbeat unless you've got black lotus's in that lot of cards. But then, I love playing Warmachine and find MTG to be a waste of time and money.

I'm not prejudiced, I hate everyone equally

Yeah, don't give away a Black Lotus. Those things are pulling 5 figures even in less than perfect condition.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the advice. I don't plan on keeping Cryx, but I do want to get into Warmahordes at some point. I'm actually planning on selling the army and keeping the case (which is really the hook in this trade for me).

He said he would trade for about $500 in MTG, which is good, because otherwise, I would sell my MTG and buy the army I want (trollbloods). It seems like armies usually go for about 50% off retail value on Ebay, and MTG, usually sells closer to retail (maybe 20% off)

Check a site like thewarstore.com or something. They will have pretty much all the models and the MSRP. Also realise that most places sell this stuff for 10-20% off MSRP new.

As for price it depends alot on the condition, paint, etc of the models. but 50% seems about right.

The kickstarter model is worth about $20, however given its exclusiveness its very difficult to get hold of and has some pretty stupidly inflated prices. I had a mate trying to track down the Cygnar one and he gave up bidding on an Ebay auction for one when it got up around the $80 mark...

Honestly unless you are doing a mate a big favour I would suggest just selling your cards through other means and buying an army you are actually interested in starting. Warmachine has a fairly steep learning curve, so if the faction you are trying to learn with doesn't really interest you then there aren't many positives to keep you in the game.

Exactly,

Basically, I need to find out how much I can sell my MTG cards for vs how much I can sell his army for, while considering the fact that I'm getting an army case/carrier which looks to be pretty large and if I get that for Free, and I can sell the his army for roughly the same as I could my MTG cards, then I'll probably do the deal.

Why would you think that someone else would be willing to pay more for the same army than you? If there were someone else interested with a better sale price then the seller would be talking to him. So, if you paid $500 cash or trade that's what you should expect from anyone else as their best price.

Well, as I mentioned earlier, my main goal here is to sell the army, and keep the case.

Basically, to explain my plan, I'm going to use secondary market values.

So, I want to trade $450 worth of cards for $450 worth of Cryx (again, resell/secondary market values), and basically get a free case for another army. Then, I'll trade the Cryx or sell them and use the money to buy whatever.

That's the main reason I wanted to make sure I could at LEAST sell the army for the same amount I could sell my MTG cards for (again, give or take, if I sell the Cryx for $415-$430, not a big deal--I mainly just want a good deal on a case and maybe some basic Warhammer books)

Does this seem possible and/or likely?

P.S. Almost all the models are still Bare metal. some are primed and one or two painted.
