Do I need to roll to hit if I target a friendly model/unit with an offensive spell?

Yup. It's still an attack. You can usually arrange yourself to make sure you've got back strike, though.

Cool. I did roll anyway as I was pretty sure I'd have to. Its just good to know for sure for those "do or die" situations!

Well, this one time Butcher3 charged one of his own dogs so he was in a position to Energizer sideways and grab three heavies with Impending Doom...

I'm afraid mine isn't quite as heroic but in this particular case a Mecanithrall meat shield had served its purpose and so I cast Curse of Shadows on them meaning my beatsticks could charge through and smash face!

Sometimes you need to get rid of an opponents model that has stealth. So, you run one of your models next to him and then hit him with an AoE. That way you're sure to get the stealthed guy with the blast.

Chain Lightning works too. It's a great workaround.
