I'd buy that, and I don't have any serious plans of playing gators

Now strapping guns to it and calling it a Mammoth, that's more my style

Nice

Looking forward to the announcement today!

Edit: Pictures have begun coming out from the Smogcon Keynote, looks like no Dracodile but here are the Gargantuans:

Cool! Looking forward to an Everblight Gargantuan that doesn't suck.

Is Everblight really now making a push towards insects? Really. They started as Land Sharks, then they went Cthulu, now insects. PP really needs to settle on one.

You mean the faction that literally grows/invents its beasts is trying different shapes?
Circle's got giant wolves, goats, griffons and stone golems. So why not?

Yep, the faction is starting to look like Darwin's grab-bag.

Circle is not the same comparison. Wolves, Satyrs, Griffons, and golems can all be found in their forests.

Yeah and Everblight can create beasts on the fly as the situation dictates, so you'd expect a variety of styles.

I'm very excited about these. Im glad they're all new sculpts, the Hydra is stupid cool, blown away by that model. Only disappointment is no Dracodile.

Perhaps, but Legion beasts literally exist by intelligent design rather than evolution.

Don't get me wrong, they look cool and I hope they're fun to play and to play against... but I hope they release some changes to make the old gargantuans that people already paid $150 or whatever for more playable before those come out.

I agree with this. the way Hordes works it really does seem like warlocks want more beasts to fuel their fury, and a Gargantuan kind of goes against that spirit (as opposed to a Colossal, which fits perfectly with the Warmachine desire to want only one or two great jacks to spend focus on). I think it would be cool if Gargantuans had a "fury battery" ability where you could put ~3 fury on it each activation (independent of forcing and the fury stat) so that you could fill up your warlock. Admittedly I don't play Hordes so I don't know how balanced that is.

Hopefully they will put a pair of spectacles on the glacier king to let him see well enough to have MAT 6.

I think one key to making all the new gargantuans worth taking (as opposed to the older ones) is LOTS of ranges attacks. 2-3 big ones and then 4-6 lighter ones, or couple sprays.
The Storm Wall, Galleon, earthshaker and prime axiom all have multiple shot (and each only 1 or 2 big guns) but the volume of fire makes it not a 19 -20 point single shot missed and it is useless gargantuans that we currently have.

The desert hydra looks a step in the right direction.

(It amuses me in light of this that the Gargantuan usually cited as the best is sitting on a ROF 3 stack of cannons)

I always thought Gargatuans/Collassals should have a blast marker melee attack. So if they hit, they do full damage, bit it can deviate. A mountain king with his giant fists hitting a winterguard is going to do more than just squash on dude.

How about if they just gave them a thresher-like power attack?

They did, but few use it, because power attacks the way they work are kind of a lame holdover the Mk1. Those that do use it, will find some use, but it's far from optimal.

Eating up both a focus, and all your initials, for that one power attack. And depending on the jack/beast you'll probably have to boost to hit most infantry.

Hey, if the lightning bird keeps the sweep it's going to be living, you could take it with PKaya and Primal it for MAT 9-10!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
(Not to mention that a Mammoth only needs four targets to be breaking even on Focus and five before it becomes more efficient to sweep than take initials and buy; the sweep isn't an auto-use trick, it's got situations where it's applicable, just like anything else)

Ill likely grab a hydra. I like the mammoth rules wise, but theres one angle where the sculpt just looks stupid and awful. Like a giant bent slug.
