Hi everyone,
this is my first attempt at a beastmen list with my newly acquired collection. I have a set selection of models (listed at the end)
I can choose from as I cannot afford new additions at the moment. I have created two lists with what I have got and I would love some feedback
on which would be better. I am using the Legion of Chaos book which allows for Marks on the beastmen units and better ambush rules but I am
still keeping the army to a beastmen theme (as I really like the models and the background of the beastmen army).

List one:

[Lords]
Great Bray-Shaman 325pts
The Steel Claws, Jagged Dagger, Talisman of Preservation, Level 4, Lore of Beasts

[Heroes]
Wargor 164pts
BSB, Armour of Destiny, Great Weapon

[Core]
40 Gors 385pts
Full Command, Mark of Slaanesh, Additional hand weapons

Tuskgor Chariot 85pts
Mark of Slaanesh

10 Gors 90 pts
Mark of Slaanesh, Additional hand weapons

10 Gors 90 pts
Mark of Slaanesh, Additional hand weapons

[Special]
4 Minotaurs 280pts
Champion, Standard, Mark of Slaanesh, Additional hand weapons

20 Bestigors 305pts
Full Command, Mark of Slaanesh, Standard of Discipline

[Rare]
Ghorgon 275pts

1999pts

List two:

[Lords]
Beastlord 248pts
Gold Sigil Sword, Armour of Destiny, Shield, Crown of Command

[Heroes]
Bray-Shaman 77pts
Additional Hand Weapon, Level 1, Lore of Beasts

Gorebull 185pts
BSB

[Core]
29 Gors 315pts
Additional Hand Weapons, Full Command, Mark of Nurgle

29 Gors 315pts
Additional Hand Weapons, Full Command, Mark of Nurgle

Tuskgor Chariot 90pts
Mark of Nurgle

[Special]
20 Bestigor 310pts
Full Command, Mark of Nurgle

3 Minotaurs 183pts
Additional Hand Weapons, Mark of Nurgle

[Rare]
Ghorgon 275pts

1998pts

So those are the lists. I like the first list because the whole army is immune to fear, terror and panic (Mark of Slaanesh), it has a level 4
spellcaster and it has a couple of ambush units (the ten man gor units) to deal with warmachines. I like the second list because the army has -1
to hit in close combat across the whole army (Mark of Nurgle), it has a greater number of hard hitting units along with stubborn (Crown of Command)
and some harder hitting characters. Which would be a good list for my first game?

This is a list of what models I have currently and as stated in the intro I can't buy too much else at the moment -
1 Beastlord, 3 Bray Shamans, 1 Doombull (counts as extra minotaur in the lists above), 1 Wargor BSB, 60 Gors, 1 Tuskgor Chariot, 3 Minotaurs,
20 Bestigors, 5 Centigors and 1 Ghorgon.

Thanks for reading and please let me know what you think.

Both are fun lists. I think I prefer #1 ... with a couple of changes:

* Swap Wargor BSB for Gorebull BSB
* Drop 4th Minotaur (because you need the model above), swap champion for musician
* Add standard of discipline to Bestigors
* Invest remaining points into Gorebull gear: charmed shield, opal amulet (or better if points), ha + gnarled hide (if points), sword of striking / biting blade / magic weapon (if points)

It's riskier, but hey, you're playing Beasts with a number of non-standard choices already Also I love the mino blood greed rule, and starting with the Gorebull gets them on the way to racking up them attaks!

EDIT
Hypothetical Gorebull build:
Gorebull - BSB, (gnarled hide or opal amulet), (warrior bane or dragonbane gem), charmed shield, ha = 214

Question I guess is how much artillery you think he'll need to soak, between the ghorgon absorbing cannonballs and the gors ambushing in to take care of war machines (and amber spear pulling counter battery duties). And then if you think you'll run into a lot of ethereal redirectors (aka Lore of Undeath). In a vacuum, I'd take the gnarled hide for the 2+ armor and the dragonbane for the fire counter.

I agree with the Boss.

List 2 doesn't have enough magical oomph for my liking, plus Wolverine Shamans are pretty awesome, especially if you get Savage Beast.

In the future, you should buy more Bestigors, they work best when you go big or go home.
