Some while ago there was a Cold War mod being developed for FoW - did it die a death, or is it still out there? (Or was it ever finished?)

It's still out there. iirc, it started out with a collection of NATO lists and a collection of Pact lists (all of which were lists for individual countries bundled into PDFs for the respective factions). But a US-specific collection of lists was added at some point. I don't know if anything beyond that has happened.

Ah ok, thanks for that - does the original author still post here? I noticed he's the creator of the 'things to note' sticky at the top of the FOW section.

Yes I've found his site, was having a good browse of the lists today - interesting to see that he saw/sees no problem with the rules for accommodating all the helis and tanks, though I've noticed that there are no fast burners included. (Compared to the official flames of war forums, where there seemed to be some angst over whether 15mm was suitable.) Also, with QRF and Peter Pig etc, there seems to be no difficulty in getting the kit, including the unusual units that might not make an initial release cut.
