Any thoughts on parking a Vindicare on the battlements of a Void Shield Generator? I believe the Vindicare is 150pts, and the Generator with 3 shields is 100pts. So for the same cost as a Land Raider, you can have this super-sniper with a good view of the battlefield, boasting a 4++ Invul, 3+ cover, and 3 AV12 Void Shields which also cover any other units within 12" of the Generator.

So is this good, bad, or just something that will annoy potential opponents? Would this be a good ally for an army like Grey Knights?

I don't even see the vindicare being worth fielding by himself at 150 points let along adding another 100... and that's coming from a guy who LOVES the model and fluff but he just wont ever make up his points

Are you saying this from the perspective of the 5th Edition Vindicare, or the 7th? I figured all of the new toys in the new Codex (72" range, ignores cover, enemy penalties to Look out Sir, always precision shot instead of only on 6's, etc) would make him better worth the points, and the Void Shield would benefit any other units within its perimeter, with 3 separate AV12 barriers that must be collapsed before any enemy shooting attack can even target the units inside.

I think the best way to protect the Vindicare is to present other threats that are closing the gap towards your opponent. He's not that threatening on his own, but if you can use other squads to assist his kills (such as a TFC to kill the models around a character so that his shots can kill them, free of look out sirs; or use him to finish off the last hull point on a Knight or something) he becomes pretty effective. The thing is, most people will kill him with weight of low-strength shots I've found, and won't dedicate a really high powered shot to try and double him out... which he will probably have a 50% chance of saving thanks to cover. YMMV though.

I don't think you need to take the void shield generator is what I've getting at... just put him in good cover at a nice vantage point and present other threats to the opponent.
