Possessed Khorne Marine Covered in Spikes

I've seen the amazing dice roll thread and many like it, but thought it would be much more interesting if people just listed there most awesome table top experiences (no talking about how you ate a cheese burger in a FLGS no one needs to hear about that) that they have had. To start the thread off here is one of mine. It was nearing the end of the game my CSM Khorne themed led by Kharn were about to sweep the Necrons off the board; the Necron player then made it his personal mission to kill Kharn. He unloaded on Kharn and his squad crushing the Berzerkers (accept the one guy behind Kharn). But Kharn remained until one lucky shot knocked off his last wound, the Necron player said, "Ok moral victory!" Then in the most evil way humanly possible a grin stretched across my face and then I stated, "You know that challenge I won vs. your warlord?" He stated, "Yes?" I said, "Remember how Kharn killed him and rolled on the boon table? He said, "Yes? What did he roll?" I then triumphantly said, "42" as I showed him my codex. With disappointment clearly on his face I rerolled my armor save rolling a 5 as he grabbed my unpainted Kharn model and put it the table and promptly conceded the game ending 0-5 in my favor on turn 5.

My face looked something like this:

Was playing a teaching game recently and my opponent, who had played back in 4th but not since, brought a pretty decent RW bike list with Sammael and a Libby. As luck would have it, I rolled on my Daemons Warp Storm table and got the Leadership on an enemy Psyker result. He failed and exploded into a free Herald of Khorne. It was glorious.

First game ever at the Local GW store. Super nervous but I get a 3 way between two vet players (necron and guard w Black Templars) both pretty competitive (2 Monoliths and like 6 Leman Russ's)

I unpack and realize I left half my models at home, I quickly re-write and apologize profusely for the unpainted squads and genuinely felt bad. So my adorable little predator and tiny ill put together SW army lines up, I get to go first and in my first shooting phase I blow up a monolith which explodes and wounds three separate squads of warriors bubbling it...it was pretty Glorious.

Many of my best moments tend to lead to the brutal deaths of my own troops; such is life in the Guard. I had one Lord Commissar stand his ground against a charging Tervigon and Trygon, managing to wound both of them - the Trygon with his bolt pistol, even! - before being torn apart and messily devoured. I had a humble Guardsman survive a plane crash and spend most of the game running around on his own, firing from the hip at whatever came closest and generally being too annoying to ignore and too worthless to kill (his shenanigans earned him the name of Guardsman Jenkins). My favorite, though, is Marbo versus the HeroGant.

Obviously, this was a little while back...but Guardsman Marbo had a way of working into most of my lists. He was just fun. And on this particular day, he was tasked with ensuring that a cluster of Termagants did not, in fact, hold a mid-field objective and stop my blob from advancing. This was well within Marbo's abilities. The objective was located on top of a cliff; much of the hill was impassable, except for one side. Marbo popped up on top of the cliff behind the objective - meaning he wouldn't be able to move, but he was also safe from assault - and dropped his demo charge on the bugs, exploding all but a couple. These last two scuttled to the safety of the passable side of the hill as my Guardsmen advanced. Mission accomplished. Marbo even took a moment to pop one of the two survivors with his pistol.

...Marbo should not have done that. The surviving Tyranid opened fire. Much like Guardsman Jenkins above, the last Termagant just wasn't worth firing at...well, except in Marbo's opinion, and the two waged a back-and-forth shooting duel for the rest of the game. Marbo would fire and miss, the bug would fire back, Marbo would go to ground (he took a wound from the first revenge shot) and the bio-ammunition would splatter off the priceless artifact he was supposed to defend...

Alas, Marbo lost that firefight; the HeroGant's rage was too great. He did help collapse the enemy flank, though, and his death bought time for the rest of the army to deal with the filthy murderous xenos. Job well done, I say.

I have a corsair eldar felarch named Jean-Luke piceldar. He was the only survivor of a venom explosion and had hidden himself in the wreckage. That turn, 9 termagants from 2 units fired down on my 5+ save toughness 3 model. No problem for him
Then 3 hormagaunts charge, and he kills 2 before the third lays him low. That hormagaunt survived the rest of the game, outside of synapse, running after units he never got to catch. That was the best 3000 point game I had ever played, and mostly due to the shenanigans of 25 points worth of basic infantry.

I remember having Abbaddon like an inch from a unit of crazed Blood Angels, ready to wreck them. Rolled double ones o nterrain... and then got shot to death. that same Blood Angel unit went on to wreck me. Of course we were both joking about the ONLY WAY this could POSSIBLY go wrong was... And then the laughter stopped. and then it started again.

Myself and a friend played a 1500 point game, I let him bring his 3 knights since he had just finished painting them and was itching to get them on the field. I figured I was done for so I had my normal list, couple of las-plas tac squads smashfucker tri las pred and some bikers with grav. Through sheer stupid luck my combinded firepower fell the center knight on my first turn. It was nova and D strength blasted the one to its right... which then went nova itself and D strength blasted the one to the left. 3 imperial knights, down in one turn from 5 lascannons.

Awesome!

One legendary kill that's gone down in history for me has got to be a 3000ish point game of planetstrike I played with my brother in 6th edition.

I was playing Tyranids vs his force of Tau with allied Imperial Guard flyers. He focused all his fortifications in one corner, and deployed his gunline among the defence lines and bastions.

As my horde approached, I used a psychic power (can't remember the name) to give my forward termagant squad a 'bubble shield' - a 5++ that bounced any saved wounds 6" in any direction.

In my brother's turn, his flyers arrived and he zoomed them up just behind my termagants to target my larger creatures. He then opened fire on my shielded termagants with his fire warriors. I saved two. It was then that we both realized his flyers were within range of the 'bounce'..... and had their back armour exposed. One shot penetrated the hull.... and exploded one of the flyers!

That was also the game where a squad of broadsides managed to whittle down a unit of 20 hormogaunts (in synpase) to about 5 - in close combat! - during the course of a game. (I'll admit, shooting and overwatch took care of quite a few of them, but still!)

Against me i charged a maulerfiend into an attack bike and it was killed by a snap shot from the multimelta, and in a diffrent game went to charge a csm squad with a untouched soul grinder with +1invun up and killed by overwatched melta gun.
From my side shooting a squad of 5 termies with 5 dark eldar warriors who had had there ride destroyed and hitting and wounding with every shot and him rolling all 1's for saves they killed the whole squad, they were then shot to death by bolters but there memory lives on.

I was had a squad of my loyal guardsmen charged by a squad of Space Marines (they just wanted to get paid). Long story short the marines wipe out the whole squad except for the plucky sargent who then proceeded to single handedly kill every one of the remaining 7 marines in close combat. He was swiftly promoted to platoon commander, and now dies almost immediately ever since.

Best thing that ever happened to me was in a game using victory points. I was playing my Tau versus an opponent's Grey Knights. Very close to the end of the game. If the game ends now, the opponent will win by 1 VP. The opponent has one last thing to do before the game ends.

Draigo is at full strength and charges 2 lonely Fire Warriors. He's only about 3 inches away from them. He say, "Do you want to roll this out, or do you want to concede?" "Let's roll it."

Overwatch... Four 6s. "Yeah, but you'll never wound."
Roll to Wound... Two 5s, two 6s = 4 wounds "Yeah, but I have a 2+ save."
Armour save... Four 1s. Draigo dies. I take Slay the Warlord AND an extra unit kill. I win by one. Good times.

Friendly / fluffy game between my pure Militarum Tempestus and my friend's Dark Eldar.

I lost everything except one last Tempestor with Power Fist.

My opponent still had a whole lot of Units left. But as a coup de grace he had his Archon alone challenge my Tempestor.

Somehow he missed or failed to wound on all his rolls. Then my Tempestor hit him once with the PF and ID'd his Archon.

Sadly my Tempestor didn't last to the retaliatory shooting by 20 Kabalites but it was still funny.

My opponent DS a unit of Stormtroopers in my backfield, but scattered off the table so it was a mishap, and I got to place them where I want. I put them between 2 units of mine, thinking I'll get to blow them away next turn. He fired his Basilisk indirectly and it scatters on his own guys, BOOM, killing all but one....

He fires a second bassy, and it scatters again, right on top of the survivor.

Silly guardsman!

A few memorable ones for me...

Back in 4th, I had played my Orks against my friend's Tyranids. It was a 2,000 point game and it was raging on for a while until it came down to just his Trygon vs my Mega Armored Warboss. He obv. went first and scored four wounds. I had to roll exactly 4 5++ saves in order to avoid my Warboss dying and thus losing the game... 4 dice rolled... exactly 4 5s. The Warboss ended up clobbering the Trygon and pulling the W.

Another one was back in the day, I played an Apocalypse game that was my Orks and 40K Nurgle army (Death Guard, Daemons, Renegade Militia) vs. my friend's Tyranids and another friend's Black Templar (3rd Ed.)...the BT player had this powerhouse HQ all decked out with accompanying Terminators in this hella expensive Land Raider. First turn, my Big Mek Stompa picks the LR up with it's Lifta Droppa and drops it into Impassible Terrain (an undamaged building). Needless to say, the Land Raider and it's contents all died ingloriously without even having stepped foot on the table.

The last one happened a couple months ago. I was playing my 30K Death Guard against my one friend's 30K Iron Warriors which were allied with another friend's Tau. The game was pretty even until the Spartan with Mortarion and his Deathshroud hit their front line and assaulted. Mortarion took something like 49 Lascannon shots, 28 Plasma shots, countless Autocannons and whatever Tau use, still had 3 wounds left, and mopped up the backfield.

Deep in the Webway

I had Maugan Ra squatting on a hill with a squad of Dark Reapers against a friend's Space Marines. They were the heroes of the game, cutting through a plethora of troops, so he eventually charged his Stormtalon Gunship straight into them. The model's nose was literally touching Maugan Ra, he was that peeved about the amount of death this one squad had caused. It's suffice to say that all his weapons simply bounced off the squad, who next turn walked to the side and continued to obliterate his troops.

That said, he went on to win the game with barely any troops left on either side, my Dark Reapers just weren't fast enough to contest the final objective. I guess he had the last laugh.

Eh, it has its ups and downs. The book is already random, so adding that isn't a huge deal. I've had really funny moments and really gakky moments. It's a love/hate relationship lol

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh, remembered another good one. It was a 3v3 Team Game (2 Tau, 1 Orks vs 1 DA, 1 CSM, 1 IG). I had a lowly squad of 5 Scouts Infiltrated on an objective. They didn't kill a single model, but due to Camo Cloaks and Ruins, passed 3 turns of DE shooting and saving over 50 3+ Saves. Once the DE got close, they were horribly murdered in CC, but until that point, they held on.

In another team game of DE/Knights/Tau vs. CSM/IG/DA, the Knight ended up within 6" of the Tau. Next movement phase, both players rolled 1's, and both the Knight and the Fire Warriors couldn't do anything that turn, allowing us to move and grab objectives for the win.

I had a five man terminator squad slaughtering there way through a bunch of boys, making an improbable number of armor saves. Just to rub salt in the wounds, I had them stomp up to a trukk and punch it to death. The trukk exploded, wounded all five terminators, and then three of them failed their armor saves.

In another game, playing IG leafblower, I was tabled by turn 3, save for my captain on a bike, who weathered the surviving two thirds of the IG army shooting him with everything they had until turn 5, when a hydra finally brought him down.

Once had a dozen spinegaunts take down the eldar avatar in a single round of shooting.

A new day, a new time zone.

One game, I looked at a full strength squad of marines standing on an objective, the ten necron warriors I had facing them, and said, 'the only way I can win this is if I wipe them out in one round of shooting."

The warriors opened fire, and when I scored ten wounds, I said 'the dice are taunting me.'

Then when he failed ten armor saves, 'My bad, they're taunting you.'

epic!

I had a game as ordo reductor vs imperial guard, calleb decima and his flamer servitors got halfway up the board before their LR transport got destroyed; they bailed behined a wrecked tarox. next turn they moved forward, flamed a squad of 5 stormtroopers killing 2. i charged, overwatch took out all but 2 of my servitors; the stormtroopers killed the servitors off in CC and then calleb iced 2 of the troopers leaving him in combat until the enemy assault phase. Calleb then consolidates towards an innocent looking chimera and doesn't move in his turn - he uses his 'curse of the omnissiah' shot (range 18" heavy 2D6 S3 AP3 haywire, one use, gets hot!) which utterly destroys the chimera (6th edition).
turns out the chimera has the enemy command squad and warlord in it and the explosion only causes one wound, but it's on his warlord!
Calleb Decima then charges the disembarked command squad and challenges his warlord. [i was loving that - first time i've seen a warlord on warlord fight in a real game] he refuses and a commissar steps up, only to be iced by a servo-arm.
Next round of combat i challenge again and an officer steps up for a servo-arming.
Next round and a psyker gets to taste metal clamp.
Last player turn of the game and there are no more 'leaders' left - i challenge his warlord and he accepts - he goes down despite getting a re-roll. The squad then have to take a leadership test which they fail and run away: i didn't make the sweeping advance but it was okay - they ran completely off the board!

Calleb Decima did good that day.
