Still digging, Weets. I'm doing a large re-org/purge, which means everything is in little plastic baggies, in bins and boxes.
While I'm digging, any other things on your wishlist?

Well I'm always interested in squats. I basically collect everything from the 80s but there's no need to go crazy, Imperial guard is whats getting painted at the mo. After them I was thinking of getting the traitor chaos marines out again.
Thanks for asking! The market for 80s minis is so overinflated at the mo - maybe its in a stock market bubble!

Great stuff got a Rogue Trader Biker and Jetbiker Commissar for myself a while back. Incidentally I have plenty of the old style Bolt Pistols. PM me if you fancy a trade. May have some other RT bits I don't have much use for as well.

The Assault Squad is looking good.
Other stuff to look out for for a RT 40k 1.5-era Imperial Guard army are: Medics on Bikes (Vincent Black Shadow!), Jetbikes - both the 1st and 2nd variants, Ogryns made of the Bob Olley "Ogryn Sergeant" and regular Jes Goodwin/Olley Ogres (which was one of the drives behind the start of my own Ogre Collection). Old-skool Rhinos, Thudd Guns, Rapiers, Mole Mortars, Penal Legion, Whiteshields, Commissar training squads....

I have been resisting the urge to pick up some of the RT Imperial Guard, you have just made that task more difficult!
Great thread, will be keeping an eye on it, well done.

Hi inspector #264 thanks for stopping by.
Resistance is futile, the borg used to say.
Hey thanks for the offer Llamahead. Another dakkite has already stepped up on the boltpistols. The offer is appreciated. No probs, weets. Just thought I'd offer. I can't get rid of the one I painted, but this one will find a good home one day.
EDIT: I can't bear to get rid of it, is what I mean.

No worries valhalla thanks for the kind offer. I could say yes but that would be cheeky as I wouldn't be using it for this army.

If the illustrations in the old rule books are to be believed you need several thousand. Its a marketing gimmick but I like it.
I'm dawdling on the painting I know. Bit busy with fee-bay at the mo.

You could well be right, some of the old art is packed full of them, but I did manage to find a pic to base my force size on:
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with once your dawdling is over with.

Plastic guardsmen to the rescue. The old guard never had a model for a flamer so I stole this one from the beaky marine kit. I'm waiting for pistols to finish the others and I've got two more torso's in the post. I really am going to have a whole assault squad!. Now all I need is ten jetpacks...
Got some old orlocks for fun and conversions.
Imperial guard squad two is basically done, they are waiting on their helmet stripes, again.

A little sneak preview; WIP command squad. They are cleaner than the other guard, maybe I'll keep them that way. I imagine they consider themselves a cut above with their fancy gilded armour. Needs flag. I think I will carry on the black and yellow checkers on the flag.

The red WD compendium had a section where you could photocopy a few banners and then paint them. Here is a link to mine as an example. Page 155 if that helps. They are specifically for the 5th Arcadian Regiment, F Company, but follow the same pattern as the ones flown by the 9th Necromundian.

Girrafex, showing your age there! We were the great generation... or was it GenX.
Thanks for the link nevelon, I'll probably do some variation on that design.
Llamahead yes they do look just a bit sciony.
Thanks Valhalla.
Well heres the second squad, squad 1. Well they are the second squad I painted but they get a 1 on their badges... erm.
I have to hold my breath when I paint the stripes.

Outstanding work on these old RT models. You've really captured the look, feel and spirit of the era, but with a nice modern, weathered touch. Great stuff!

Squad 3 is next, The assault squad. And sentinels. I've got two more but with missing parts. I'll try and think of a way to replicate them. I only have one foot. Maybe I can press mold it.

Argh! I'm extremely jealous. I've got a bag full of those old plastic guys, but I just can't find the time.
The pedant in me demands that I point out that two of those guys with bolt pistols haven't bothered to take them out the holsters, but other than offending my OCD, they all look good.
