Dakkites,

Whats the best way to run Maneaters in an Ogre Kingdoms army... if there is one. I used to run '6 w/ brace of pistols, standard, musican with Poision and Scout', but their ranged output seems ineffective.

I understand they are better than ogres in all respects but there combat ability OR ranged ability seem to be REALLY sub-par, is there a good way to run them for their points cost?

The Lair of Vengeance....Poole.

Poison and Sniper. That way you can split fire.

Or, a unit of 6 with 3 ogre pistols and 3 great weapons. Stand and shoot on the way in, and hit with great weapons on the way back.

Stubborn and Vanguard really works.

I like Stubborn and Scout on a unit of 12 that are run 4 wide with full command, HA, and the banner of +1ld.

First rank has brace of pistols, 2nd rank has great weapons, 3rd rank has nothing.

Its expensive, but this unit can shred entire armies. I won a game because I scouted these guys into my opponents backfield and he was forced to deal with them. They were the only unit of mine to see combat, but they killed a unit of 30 daemonettes with Herald, a unit of 30 bloodletters with Herald, and a horde of 50 bloodletters with Herald, and were able to whittle his lord of change down to 2 wounds before finally getting destroyed.

The pistols are so I have a little shooting and extra attacks on my front rank. great weapons are the best supporting attacks. And the last rank is naked and just there to be ablative wounds.

What do you mean split fire?

its VERY expensive!

I was thinking about 6 with scout, stubborn, Brace of Pistols x3 and Aditional Handweapons x3, w/Razor standard.... scout infront of a unit and then leave it there for the enemy to have to deal with, support with gut star, double mournfang, double ironblaster, Heavens (Ice Shard, Harmonic, Curse) OR Beasts (Wildform) OR MAW (Troll guts, Toothcracker) to back up... season to taste?

Would that do much more then your leadbleachers? multiple units of those seems better to me then one unit of maneaters, espically considering what else is in your list?.quick add up shows 9 leadblechers for the same cost as that?.

Also why AHW on 3 and brace on 3? both give extra attack but the supporting wont benefit? I do like the idea of the 3 brace of pistols for 15 attacks then 3 great weapons for 9 str7 attacks, yes they wont always get to attack so maybe add in another dude with nothing to take the wounds in combat?

Dangerous Leadbelcher

I run 6 w brace of pistols, std, musician, banner of eternal flame. Special rules poison and ... typically sniper, but leaning more towards stubborn these days, cuz its hard to kill 6 of them in a round.

They statistically edge out their points in leadbelchers at putting wounds on the T6 targets prevalent in my meta. And they strip regen at range for the the leadblechers and ironblasters, and in CC for the ironguts.

Read the Sniper rule. Every model with it can pick a seperate target.
