Me, and the friends I play with, have gone with mid war and I was just curious about what phase of the war other people play.

I've played primarily MW, North African theater. I have some LW Soviet and German stuff as well, and have dabbled with a small LW Motostrelkovy force.

Currently mostly EW - old club is running Infantry Aces EW, which is excellent and working very well. Also a longer term campaign still in the EW period so this is the main focus.

Also signed up for BGHS Rollcall EW, so needing the practice..

Voted EW.

Utterly love MW though, this is my main hunting ground generally but not recently.

Have lots of LW, but apart from a couple of team Total War games not played it in a few years... (Market Garden last year, and this year trying to hit the D Day beaches as opposed to defending them successfully again).

Have GreaT War, but not finished building it or played it yet, don't have the others but with the price drop for the books tempted to get them for the hell of it

LW is what is played in the local area, however, my favorite is EW.

"Play" is a very strong term as I'm still in the "painting up armies" phase; I hate unpainted minis on the table in such games, but I'm a horrifically slow and easily distracted painter. It's not a good combination of traits, honestly, especially when you add in being a collector where I have tons of models "just in case" there's a use for them.

That said, LW is what all my armies are, and I have probably eight or nine discrete US and German armies at this point. There's some model overlap between a few lists, of course, but in terms of "Core platoons" changing up that sounds about right.

I just like the big cats of Germany and in particular their later models so the things I want to collect dictate the era for me. The LW US stuff is also appealing (Easy 8s from my WoT travels and Chaffees are adorable!) so it's a good era for me. Having looked at the other eras I can see where LW is less balanced because there's a lot more "stuff" going on both with models and special rules in LW. For tournament play I'd probably prefer MW, but you can't get the shinies I like as readily there.

LW is played in my local. Collecting a EW soviet army. No EW players sadly so working on influencing someone to collect japanese.. 'wow they look interesting' 'those are cool, they would be mint to control' and various other stock phrases. It isn't working.

I used to play MW the most because it was the only period out when I started. Now I play LW and just started Great War.

Maybe I'm just a hipster, but after I have a big enough mid-war army, I'll go early before late.
