I made this first Tau/Farsight allies list that I haven't bought models for yet. I have no idea how 40k works, and if this list is even any good, let alone legal/battleforged.

Tip one is don't post google docs. Take the time out of your day to copy paste in the field.

Rule #1 is Look Cool.

Removed google doc, and pasted in list.

EDIT: Cleaned up "Profiles" from the list.

Well, you probably don't need a Shield Generator, Iridium Suit, and Stims on your Commander. Removing one or two will save you a few points.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, no Fusion Blades. You don't want your Commander (or any Tau really) in CC.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Don't mix weapons on your Crisis suits. Take two of each (not TL either if you can afford it).

I heard missiles and plasma were a good thing to do, and fusion blades just looked cool as a tank popper tbh. Buff commander probably doesn't need the shield gen, will take that off.

How do Tau use fleet though, if they don't want to be in CC?

JSJ. Don't let your enemy get close enough to put you in CC. Every Tau unit has Overwatch, which can help. FE are especially mobile when you have primarily Crisis Suits.

I'm still wondering what the difference is between TL and having 2 of a weapon, and which one is better. I wanted to run buff commander, not gun commander but I guess that works.

Also, can the empire commander not join enclave suits?

Twin-linked just let's you re-roll, but having double weapons gives you more shots. More shots is always a good thing, so you want to take double weapons instead of TL if your points allow. Sorry, where were you going to run the Buffmander?

The only HQs from standard Empire not allowed with an FE list are Aun'va and Shadowsun.

I intended for the buff commander to rain markerlights on the enemy, is that a bad role to have CnC and MS3 for?

There are always better sources for Markerlights. I know a lot of guys on here recommend Tetras. (Those are FW models). I think Sky Rays can do some good work on the Markerlight provisional front.

Don't bother with CCN and MSSS. You can use the points better elsewhere.

Well, it's whatever floats your boat really. Are you sure you want the XV8's as Bodyguards? Just leaving them as a standard team saves you points that you can put elsewhere. Also, having Shas'vre won't add much to your Stealth Team. Again, points that you could use elsewhere.

Also, your FE Commander has another slot open that you could be using. It would be especially good for a FE Signature System like Talisman of Arthas Moloch. And your Marker Drone Squadron would really benefit from a Drone Controller.

You need to remove all the individual points costs from your lists before a MOD sees it, then reformat it into something more readable if you want more comments.

Instead of cut and pasting:
XV8 Crisis Bodyguard Team (153pts)
····Crisis Bodyguard (62pts) [Crisis battlesuit, 2x Missile pod (30pts)]
········Rules: Supporting Fire, Sworn Protector, Very Bulky
····Crisis Bodyguard (67pts) [Crisis battlesuit, 2x Missile pod (30pts), Target lock (5pts)]
········Rules: Supporting Fire, Sworn Protector, Very Bulky
····2x Marker Drone (24pts) [2x Markerlight]

Just write:
Crisis Bodyguard x2, Dual MP, 2x Marker Drones 153pts

Most dakkanaughts (myself included) have criminally short attention spans, and are turned off by walls of cut and paste battlescribe text

It looks pretty solid to me otherwise. You may want to consider adding a Sky Ray for some AA.

The thing I'm worried about is the marker drones not being able to chain markerlights for the broadsides, because one of the un-target lock equipped suits shot something.

I'm pretty sure the fusion squad already has only 2 target locks though.

Also, that was pretty tight at 1500 points. I don't think a skyray fits.

Well, just in future, if you know your opponent is going to be fielding Flyers, be prepared to change your list up and get a Sky Ray in there. It's not vital if you don't have Flyers to deal with though.
